Debasis Pradhan, TAPMI Director

Manipal-based TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), a constituent of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), has announced the appointment of Debasis Pradhan as its new Director.

A media statement said Pradhan will expand TAPMI’s global collaboration with other institutions and organisations on the international stage, enhance TAPMI’s research and academic impact and further develop TAPMI’s academic innovation programmes and collaborations.

Pradhan has a background in academia with more than 20 years of experience at XLRI in Jamshedpur, where he was a Full Professor of Marketing and held various leadership positions, including Associate Dean (Executive Education) and Chairperson of Marketing Division.

Pradhan has written over 30 articles in tier A and tier A* journals around the world, such as Psychology and Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Affairs, and International Marketing Review, to mention a few.

The statement said his research areas include technology and the well-being of consumers, interaction between consumers and brands and machines, influencer marketing, brand activism, and engagement with consumers. These are all new and emerging areas that will shape how businesses and manage their educational systems throughout the world in years to come, it said.

He also provides guidance to PhD candidates and has done so to many other candidates who have now assumed faculty positions at top tier colleges and universities such as Indian Institutes of Management, Indian Institutes of Technology and top tier colleges and universities throughout the world, the statement added.
