The Board of Governors of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) has dismissed the former Registrar, Ravindranath K, from service, according a media statement by the institute.

The Mangaluru-based institute said he had been placed under suspension from September 12, 2025, at the behest of the Union Ministry of Education and as per the Board’s resolutions, pending a departmental inquiry.

According to the statement, an inquiry was initiated into alleged procedural irregularities and professional impropriety in violation of the Central Civil Service (Conduct) Rules, 1964. It added that the charges against him were found to be grave and proved by the inquiry, following which the Board unanimously approved the penalty of his dismissal from service.

The statement said that his tenure as Registrar was also terminated prior to his dismissal as he had held the post beyond five years as stipulated by the NITSER Act and Statutes.

The institute said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of misconduct or ethical compromise, and that this action reinforces NITK’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability within its administration.
