Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, will inaugurate its ‘Industry Integrated Workspace’ on May 23 2026. The facility is aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration and building a future-ready innovation ecosystem for students.

A media statement said that the ‘Industry Integrated Workspace’ has been envisioned as a transformative platform where students can directly engage with industry experts, work on live projects, participate in internships and freelancing assignments, and gain hands-on exposure to real-world technologies and business challenges.

The initiative aims to establish a 300-seater workspace and onboard more than 20 industry partners, enabling students to acquire domain-specific exposure.

The participating companies now include Discover Dollar, Allcargo Logistics, MResult Technologies Pvt Ltd, FlocCare, Datavex AI, and Manthrika AI.

Sharanprakash R Patil, Karnataka Minister of Medical Education and Skill Development, will inaugurate the facility in Mangaluru on May 23.

AI lab

The college, in association with Mphasis Foundation, will inaugurate the Mphasis AI and Robotics Lab at the college campus on May 22.

The Mphasis AI and Robotics Lab has been established as part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Mphasis Foundation, in collaboration with Sahyadri Hub for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SHINE) Foundation, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, and NASSCOM. The initiative aims to create a co-creation and innovation ecosystem that fosters exponential value creation using emerging technologies such as agentic AI, robotics, Edge AI, industrial IoT, cloud computing, and automation.

The statement said that the newly established facility forms a major part of Sahyadri’s broader ‘Industry Integrated Workspace’ initiative, which focuses on bridging academia, industry, and innovation. Mphasis Foundation has committed ₹2 crore over four years towards developing advanced facilities that strengthen industry-ready talent, innovation, startups, and regional technology ecosystems.

Aligned with the Karnataka government’s ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ initiative, the lab aims to strengthen regional innovation and position Mangaluru as an emerging technology and entrepreneurship hub. Over the next five years, the initiative envisions building a strong digital talent pool by upskilling students in AI/ML, blockchain, AR/VR, gaming, robotics, and other technologies while developing solutions for regional and global challenges.

MC Sudhakar, Karnataka Higher Education Minister, will inaugurate the lab in Mangaluru on May 22.
