A fire broke out at the Kazan Gunpowder Plant on April 14, the press service of Tatarstan’s regional head said. Some structural elements partially collapsed in the blaze, which authorities attributed to a technical malfunction.
Several people were injured. Two were hospitalized, one of them in serious condition, the Russian security services-linked Telegram channel 112 reported.
Production at the plant was not halted, Tatarstan authorities said.
The Kazan Gunpowder Plant is Russia’s oldest. It produces all grades of pyroxylin powder and ammunition charges for nearly every type of weapon in service.
