Russia revoked the press credentials of journalists from all foreign news outlets ahead of the Victory Day parade, the German publication Der Spiegel reported on the evening of May 7.
Der Spiegel said its own accreditation was revoked by phone. A Kremlin representative said that “due to the current situation, the format for covering the parade has changed,” and that only representatives of Russian media would be admitted.
It was the first time in the history of the May 9 parades that Russian authorities had mass-revoked accreditations that had already been issued, Der Spiegel noted.
The 2026 Victory Parade will be held in a reduced format due to the threat of Ukrainian drone attacks. Military hardware will be absent from the parade for the first time since 2007.
The Telegram channel Yozh (Hedgehog), citing sources at Channel One, reported that the broadcast will air on a delay.
Moscow will have no mobile internet on May 9, authorities announced, saying the measure was necessary “to ensure security during the Victory Day celebrations.”
