Thirty-five students were injured when a strike hit a college building and dormitory in Starobilsk, in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine’s Luhansk region, according to local officials.
Leonid Pasechnik, head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (“LNR”), said 86 children were in the school at the time. Rescuers have pulled two people from the debris and may still be working to free others trapped under rubble.
Pasechnik also said stores, administrative buildings, and private homes were damaged in Starobilsk, and that a man was injured. He attributed the attack to Ukrainian drones.
The Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ published photographs from Starobilsk showing, among other things, a heavily damaged building bearing the inscription “Starobilsk Professional College.” The same images appeared in Pasechnik’s channel on the Max messenger.
Ukraine had not officially commented on reports of the strike on the college at the time of publication.
