A controversy has surfaced in Assam's Bajali district after suspected banned meat was allegedly recovered from two employees working at a private automobile dealership in Pathsala, prompting calls for an investigation into the matter.

According to reports, the meat was allegedly brought to the workplace by two employees of Poddar Car World, identified as Shah Alam and Sirajul Haque, both residents of neighbouring Barpeta district. The two individuals were reportedly having their meal on the premises when suspicions were raised regarding the nature of the meat.

Sources said members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), along with some employees of the dealership, intervened after noticing the food being consumed. The situation reportedly became tense as word of the incident spread among local residents.

Police sources indicated that the seized meat is suspected to be beef, although official confirmation regarding its nature is awaited. Authorities are expected to conduct further examination to determine the type of meat recovered.

The incident has generated considerable discussion across Pathsala and other parts of Bajali district, with residents seeking a detailed inquiry into the matter. Several local residents have also demanded appropriate legal action if any violation of existing regulations is established.

The development has drawn particular attention as it comes shortly after the Bajali district administration imposed restrictions on cattle sacrifice within the district. The timing of the alleged incident has contributed to heightened public interest and scrutiny.
