Tension was reported in Ukhrul district on April 25 after an Assam Rifles convoy allegedly forced its way through barricades set up by villagers at Talui village, with local sources claiming that two civilians were injured during the incident.
According to local inputs, the convoy was travelling from Ukhrul headquarters at around 1:00 pm when it encountered barriers erected by residents at the entrance of Talui village. Villagers had reportedly set up the barricades to monitor vehicle movement amid the prevailing tense situation in the hill district.
Sources alleged that as the convoy moved through the area, several rounds of gunfire were heard, creating panic among residents and turning the civilian area into a tense, war-like scene.
Local accounts further claimed that before the convoy reached Hoomi, residents again attempted to stop the vehicles, following which more firing allegedly took place.
According to the claims, those injured include one woman from Talui village and one man from Hoomi. Their medical condition was not immediately known; however, the injured were rushed to the Ukhrul District hospital.
There was no official statement from the Assam Rifles or district authorities till the time of filing this report, and the circumstances surrounding the incident could not be independently verified.
The development comes amid continuing tensions in parts of Manipur, where security movement and civilian restrictions remain sensitive issues.
