Assam: Three dead, one critical after septic tank tragedy in Goalpara’s Goraimari
A tragic incident in Goraimari under Assam’s Goalpara claimed the lives of three people while they were cleaning a septic tank at an under-construction toilet facility. Another person remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the victims entered the septic tank during ongoing construction work. Preliminary suspicion suggests that toxic gases trapped inside the tank caused severe breathing difficulties, leading to the fatal accident.
The deceased have been identified as Jochok Rabha, the house owner, Krishna Ray, and Dilip Das. Bajpayee Rabha, who was also involved in the incident, was rescued in critical condition and admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and recovered the bodies. The deceased were later sent to Nidhinuram Rajbongshi Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The incident has left the entire area in shock and raised serious concerns over the absence of safety measures during septic tank cleaning operations.
