Nagaland Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs K. G. Kenye on June 23 cautioned that Naga society is gradually losing its collective voice and leadership, urging all sections of the community to work towards a consensus on the Naga political issue before divisions deepen further.

Addressing the first Annual General Session of the Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) held under the theme “Progressive Society through Unity” in Kohima, Kenye said the Nagas are passing through a sensitive phase in their history and stressed the need for unity and collective decision-making.

He expressed concern over the prolonged delay in resolving the Naga political issue, stating that the continued uncertainty is weakening the social fabric and creating growing challenges for the community.

“We are very, very close to a critical stage. Things have been dragging on for too long. The political aspect is not looking good,” Kenye said.

The minister emphasized that without a common voice and shared vision, it would become increasingly difficult for Naga society to effectively address its political aspirations and developmental concerns.

Calling for greater dialogue and understanding among different stakeholders, Kenye urged community leaders, civil society organisations and political groups to work together in the larger interest of the Naga people and strive for a broad-based consensus on the way forward.

The TUN session brought together representatives from various sections of society to discuss issues concerning unity, social progress and the future of the Naga community.
