10 Bangladeshi nationals detained in Guwahati, set to be pushed back
Police detained 10 Bangladeshi nationals from the Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati late Tuesday night after they allegedly failed to produce valid identity and travel documents during questioning.
According to a police official, the individuals were initially detained by Paltan Bazar Police and subsequently handed over to the Border Police for verification and further legal procedures.
“Verification of the individuals has been completed. They have admitted to being Bangladeshi nationals. They will now be pushed back,” the official said.

Police have also turned their attention to the lodge where the group had been staying. The lodge owner, identified as Hridoy Deka, is under scrutiny for allegedly allowing the individuals to stay without collecting and verifying the required identity documents.
The latest detention comes days after a similar operation on June 19, when police apprehended 13 Bangladeshi nationals from Guwahati’s Arya Nagar area. Those individuals were also unable to produce valid identity and travel documents and were pushed back following verification and investigation by the authorities.
Police said efforts to identify and act against illegal entrants are continuing as part of ongoing verification drives in the city.
