The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) in Manipur on Friday, May 15, strongly condemned the alleged NEET-UG question paper leak and demanded the immediate dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA), alleging serious lapses in the conduct of national-level examinations.
 

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan in Imphal, NSUI Manipur president Joyson Khoho said the alleged paper leak and the postponement of the re-examination to June 21 have caused anxiety and uncertainty among lakhs of medical aspirants across the country.
 

He alleged that the incident reflected a major failure on the part of the BJP-led government and claimed that incidents of examination paper leaks have become increasingly frequent in recent years.
 

Khoho further criticised the NTA, alleging that the agency has lost credibility in conducting high-level professional examinations and called for its dissolution.
 

He also highlighted the challenges faced by students in conflict-hit Manipur, stating that despite the prevailing law and order situation, nearly 10,000 students from the state appeared for the examination.
 

“It is unfortunate that students who appeared for the exam under such difficult circumstances now have to face cancellation due to alleged irregularities,” he said.
 

The student leader said merely cancelling the examination or arresting those involved would not be enough, and stressed the need for systemic reforms to prevent similar incidents in the future.
 

NSUI Manipur also extended support to a six-point demand raised by the national leadership of the student body. The demands include immediate dissolution of the NTA, resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on moral grounds, a judicially monitored investigation into the alleged leak, mental health support for affected students, and compensation for candidates who appeared in the examination.
 

The student body urged the Centre to ensure transparency, accountability, and credibility in the conduct of national entrance examinations.
