Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on April 29 expressed confidence over the NDA’s electoral prospects in Assam, saying that while exit polls may not always be accurate, the alliance is expecting a strong and decisive mandate from voters.

Reacting to the exit poll projections, Saikia said the BJP and its allies are optimistic about securing a “historic mandate” and returning to power for a third consecutive term in the state.

He credited the expected performance to public support for development, protection of identity, and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“Exit polls may not be perfect, but BJP and NDA expect strong results in Assam. Voters have backed the BJP for development, identity, and leadership under Narendra Modi and Himanta Biswa Sarma, giving what is set to be a historic mandate for a third term,” Saikia said.

The BJP leader also commented on the political situation in West Bengal, alleging that voters in the state have rejected what he termed as years of corruption and syndicate rule under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He further claimed that despite alleged attempts to create fear during the elections, voters participated in large numbers, which he said reflected the strength of India’s democratic process.
