






















Security forces intensified counter-insurgency and anti-narcotics operations in Manipur, leading to the recovery of a cache of arms and explosives in Chandel district and the arrest of three individuals with a significant quantity of heroin in Churachandpur district.
According to official inputs, on April 24, 2026, security personnel conducted an operation in the general area of Khumkot village under Molcham Police Station in Chandel district. During the search, forces recovered four single bore rifles, four improvised “Pompi” weapons, seven Pompi shells, three grenades along with a detonator, and five Baofeng radio sets with corresponding chargers. The recovered items are suspected to have been stockpiled for unlawful activities, and further investigation is underway to ascertain their origin and intended use.
In a separate operation on April 23, 2026, security forces apprehended three individuals from Bolkot under Singngat Police Station in Churachandpur district. The arrested persons have been identified as Nengmuanlal and Ginlamthang Guite, both residents of M Buangmun village in Singngat, and Hangkhanlian, a resident of Chakarpur in Gurgaon, Haryana.
During the operation, personnel seized 474 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 5.43 kilograms, along with one four-wheeler vehicle believed to have been used for transportation. The seized narcotics are estimated to have significant value in the illegal drug market.
Authorities have registered cases in connection with the seizures and arrests. Further investigation is in progress to identify possible links to organised networks involved in arms trafficking and drug smuggling in the region.
