Torrential rainfall continued to batter several parts of Arunachal Pradesh, triggering landslides, flash floods and extensive infrastructure damage across multiple districts, while rescue and restoration operations remain underway.

A major landslide was reported at Siji block point in Lower Siang district, resulting in the blockage of the Siji River above the Likabali checkpost between Siji and Magi. Authorities indicated that water is accumulating upstream due to the obstruction, raising concerns over a possible sudden release of water that may pose a threat to life and property in downstream areas.

District police teams have initiated outreach efforts and alerted residents living along downstream stretches to stay away from riverbanks and remain vigilant as the situation develops.

In another incident linked to the ongoing extreme weather conditions, a bridge collapsed at Ledum village, further disrupting connectivity in the affected region.

Several parts of Arunachal Pradesh have reported widespread damage due to persistent heavy rainfall, with incidents of flash floods, landslides and road failures leading to loss of lives and leaving some individuals missing.

Rescue operations are currently underway in affected locations, while district administrations have issued advisories urging the public to avoid travelling through vulnerable and heavily damaged routes.

Authorities stated that restoration work is being carried out on a war footing, with personnel, heavy machinery and emergency teams deployed to clear debris and restore traffic movement at the earliest. However, continuous rainfall has continued to trigger sudden landslides, rockfalls and road subsidence, creating dangerous conditions for commuters.

In view of the prevailing weather situation, the administration has advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel until conditions improve and normal movement is restored.

Those undertaking essential travel have been advised to move only during daylight hours and exercise heightened caution while passing through vulnerable stretches.

The advisory further urged motorists not to stop or park vehicles in landslide-prone areas, rockfall zones or sections affected by road breaches, and to strictly follow instructions issued by highway officials, police personnel and emergency restoration teams deployed on the ground.
