AIUDF chief and MLA Badruddin Ajmal on Monday, June 22 slammed the BJP-led government at the Centre and in Assam over eviction drives, rising price of essential goods and issues concerning minority communities, alleging that affected people are not receiving adequate rehabilitation support.

Addressing the media, Ajmal said he entered state politics at the direction of his party and was elected with public support. He criticised the policies of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that an atmosphere of fear has developed among minority communities across the country.

Raising concerns over ongoing eviction operations in Assam, Ajmal claimed that several genuine Indian citizens were being subjected to hardship during drives aimed at identifying illegal immigrants. He asserted that proper rehabilitation and resettlement measures should be ensured before carrying out eviction exercises.

The AIUDF leader further highlighted inflation and rising costs of essential commodities as major public concerns. Referring to increasing LPG cylinder prices and fuel costs, Ajmal said these issues continue to place financial pressure on ordinary citizens.

Ajmal stated that the AIUDF would continue raising concerns related to inflation, eviction drives and issues affecting minority communities. He added that the party would persist in demanding justice, rehabilitation and safeguards for people impacted by such measures.

The state government has maintained that eviction drives are conducted in accordance with legal procedures and are aimed at reclaiming government land and addressing encroachment.
