The Central Assam Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union has issued a warning over alleged large-scale irregularities and corruption in the education sector in Nagaon district, raising concerns regarding the process of granting school prior permissions, DISE codes and SEBA codes.

Addressing the issue, the organisation alleged that certain educational institutions were operating through fraudulent means and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. It claimed that such practices were undermining the integrity of the education system and affecting students and guardians.

As part of its demands, the students’ body called for the closure of institutions allegedly found to be involved in irregular practices. Citing Bishnurabha Senior Secondary School in Nagaon as an example, the organisation urged the government to take appropriate action against institutions that are found violating established norms.

The union further demanded that authorities identify and dismantle networks allegedly engaged in commercialising education through illegal practices. It stressed the need for stricter monitoring and accountability mechanisms to prevent misuse of educational approval processes.

Additionally, the organisation appealed to the government to introduce regulatory measures restricting the establishment of private educational institutions within a two-kilometre radius of existing government educational institutions. According to the union, such a measure would help protect public educational infrastructure and ensure balanced educational development.

The students’ body urged the concerned departments to take prompt action to maintain transparency and credibility in the education sector.
