Over 600 churches worldwide, representing around 1,100 Christian leaders and tens of thousands of church members, participated in the third annual Solidarity Sunday to oppose antisemitism.

This global event was also coordinated to show support for the Jewish community and the State of Israel.

Eagles’ Wings initiated the event in response to rising antisemitism and anti-Israel propaganda that targeted Jewish communities worldwide after the war began. This one-day, church-centered initiative unites Christian congregations to publicly denounce antisemitism and express solidarity with Jews.

This year, churches in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and parts of Africa and Europe hosted Jewish speakers who shared personal stories.

Organized by Eagles’ Wings via its pastors’ network, the Israel Christian Nexus, in collaboration with the Moral Hearts Alliance, Solidarity Sunday was created in 2024 after the events of the October 7 Massacre.

Eagles’ Wings initiated the event in response to rising antisemitism and anti-Israel propaganda that targeted Jewish communities worldwide after the war began. This one-day, church-centered initiative unites Christian congregations to publicly denounce antisemitism and express solidarity with Jews.

This year, churches in the US, Canada, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and parts of Africa and Europe hosted Jewish speakers who shared personal stories.

Attendees included Holocaust survivors and their descendants, survivors of the Nova music festival massacre, family members of Israeli hostages, IDF soldiers, public figures from Israel, and Jewish university students who faced antisemitism on campus.

Many congregations also showed video testimonies from Holocaust survivors and Jews facing today’s antisemitism, while joining a live global broadcast of the main Solidarity Sunday event led by Bishop Robert Stearns in Buffalo, New York.

Initiative aims to turn solidarity into collective action

Organizers explained that the initiative aimed to go beyond mere expressions of sympathy and turn solidarity into visible, collective action, strengthening bonds between Christian and Jewish communities.

The timing of Solidarity Sunday is purposeful: held annually on the Sunday before International Holocaust Remembrance Day, it encourages Christian communities to reflect on the silence during the Holocaust and to make moral choices today.

It is described as a public pledge to challenge antisemitism and support Jewish life at a time of rising hostility toward Jews and Israel. This year’s event occurred amid ongoing global concerns over increased antisemitism following the October 7, 2023, attacks.

Jewish communities worldwide, including in the US, have reported more threats, harassment, and intimidation, raising fears for Jewish safety in the Diaspora.

The Moral Hearts Alliance, a Jewish organization dedicated to strengthening Jewish-Christian relations, has played a key role in incorporating Jewish voices into participating churches.

The organizers aim to ensure that tens of thousands of Christians hear direct accounts of both the Holocaust and current antisemitism. For over thirty years, Eagles’ Wings has fostered relationships between Christians and Jews through advocacy, education, and engagement with Israel.

Nearly 800 pastoral and solidarity delegations have been organized, bringing over 40,000 Christians to Israel to meet Israeli citizens, leaders, and faith groups.

Bishop Robert Stearns, founder and president of Eagles’ Wings, has actively spoken out against the painful history of Christian antisemitism and advocates for a new era of public solidarity.

“Two thousand years of Christian history have often been terrible for the Jewish people,” Stearns noted. “But a new generation of Christians is here, one that says, ‘For Zion’s sake, I will not be silent.’ Jews and Christians must stand together now.”

Organizers stress that Solidarity Sunday is not a political or theological campaign, but a moral commitment encouraging Christian leaders to use their influence to oppose antisemitism and support the Jewish community and Israel visibly.
