EL AL FLY CARD moves to Isracard | The Jerusalem Post
JERUSALEM POST STAFF · 2026-06-19 · via JPost.com - Business & Innovation | The Jerusalem Post
ByJERUSALEM POST STAFF

EL AL's Matmid frequent flyer credit card program has officially moved to Isracard, requiring existing cardholders to take action if they wish to continue earning loyalty benefits beyond the end of the year.

The transition follows EL AL's March 2026 announcement that it would end its partnership with CAL and move the FLY CARD program to the Isracard Group.

As a result, the airline's official Matmid Club credit card will now be issued exclusively by Isracard. Existing CAL-issued FLY CARD holders can continue using their current cards and earning points through December 31, 2026. Beginning January 1, 2027, those cards will no longer provide EL AL Matmid Club benefits.

What is FLY CARD?

FLY CARD is EL AL's official Matmid Club credit card. Depending on the card type and membership conditions, cardholders can earn Matmid points and, on certain premium cards, diamonds through everyday spending. Points can be redeemed for flights, upgrades and other benefits within the airline's loyalty program.

What do current cardholders need to do?

Customers who currently hold a CAL-issued FLY CARD must obtain a new Isracard-issued FLY CARD if they wish to continue earning Matmid points, diamonds and related benefits after the end of 2026.

The new cards became available on June 1, 2026. Enrollment can be completed digitally through Isracard's website or through customer service centers.

What happens if cardholders do not switch?

While existing CAL-issued cards are expected to continue functioning as regular credit cards under the issuer's terms, they will no longer be recognized as FLY CARD products after December 31, 2026.

As a result, cardholders who do not switch will no longer accrue Matmid points, diamonds or other EL AL loyalty benefits through their credit card spending.

According to the program's terms, customers who joined CAL's FLYALL program are no longer considered FLY CARD holders.

Will existing points and diamonds be lost?

No. Points and diamonds already accumulated remain in members' EL AL Matmid Club accounts and remain subject to the club's terms and conditions.

However, accrued points generally remain valid for 18 months unless the member spends at least NIS 5,000 using their FLY CARD during that period or earns at least one point from an EL AL flight.

How does FLY CARD differ from other travel credit cards?

Israel's credit card market includes several products that offer travel-related benefits, such as flight discounts, cashback or tourism-related perks.

FLY CARD differs in that it is directly integrated with EL AL's Matmid Club loyalty program. In addition to travel-related benefits, cardholders can accumulate airline loyalty points, earn status diamonds on eligible premium cards and access benefits associated with Matmid membership.

What benefits are available?

Benefits vary by card type and are subject to EL AL and Isracard terms and conditions.

Among the benefits offered across the various FLY CARD products are:

  • Accumulation of Matmid points and, on eligible premium cards, diamonds

  • Additional point accrual on EL AL flights

  • Special pricing on award tickets

  • Additional baggage allowances

  • Birthday benefits, including discounted ticket redemptions using points

  • Discounts on selected point redemptions

  • Benefits and discounts through FLYSTORE

  • New-customer and digital enrollment offers

  • Reduced foreign currency transaction fees on certain card products

Which card is available?

The FLY CARD portfolio currently includes several products, including FLY CARD, FLY CARD PREMIUM, FLY CARD PREMIUM Select and FLY CARD PREMIUM American Express.

Consumers considering a switch are advised to compare annual fees, point accrual rates, diamond eligibility, foreign-currency benefits and redemption options before selecting a card.

The information is based on EL AL, Matmid Club and Isracard publications and is subject to the official terms and conditions of the respective programs. Benefits, accrual rates and fees may change over time.
