The Spanish parliament approved the government's decision to impose an arms embargo on Israel on Thursday.

Pedro Sanchez's government made the decision last month due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas War.

During the vote to approve the decision, 178 members of parliament voted in favor, and 169 members of parliament from the right and far-Right voted against the proposal.

The Spanish arms embargo would completely prevent the sale of weapons to Israel and the purchase of Israeli weapons by Spain.

Spain's Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs, and Agenda 2030 launched an investigation on October 1 into companies that advertise products made or services based in the Palestinian areas, which it considers occupied by Israel.

According to Article 4 of the Royal Decree-Law 10/2025, approved by the Spanish Government last week, the advertising of goods and services from these 'occupied territories' is prohibited.

The ministry, led by Pablo Bustinduy, has therefore announced the adoption of urgent measures against the "genocide in Gaza and to support the Palestinian population."

The Spanish government is actively contributing to the rise of antisemitism, Dana Erlich, Israel's acting ambassador to Spain, said in an interview with N12 News published on October 1.

American ships loaded with arms for Israel were blocked from transiting through the Rota (Cádiz) and Morón de la Frontera (Seville) bases, Spanish outlet El Pais reported on September 29.
