Jeff: I worked at Hoboken Farmboy for many of my late formative years. I used surveillance analog video for one proposed thesis submission at none other than Jersey City College. I used something else but modified the surveillance footage to show what I wanted to show with just editing. I called it “involuntary video” in early ninetees as my suspicions ala Philip K Dicj was already in development. This was done in a retail establishment where some noticed what people buy. The nascent dark side of public recording that can be processed to represent whatever you wanted express. This was my critique but knew it would likely be used nefariously Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:43pm

Jeff Moore: AFAIK, UniFi (Ubiquiti) cameras spool your recorded video onto purely-local storage.

A potential security/privacy downside is that UniFi provides (for your convenience, and it genuinely can be convenient) a way to view said video from outside your site, but I believe there's a way to cut off all remote access/admin for UniFi sites if you're determined enough.

And the main video repository is always on your server.
