I've been listening to the Chopping Mall soundtrack a lot this week. I suggest some of it for this show, being THE killbot music.
We don't have ads, surveys, and cookie permissions pop-ups smacking you in the face either. Marathon's coming up, folks, that's what makes it possible!

Why can't all this power and money be used for good - or to at least not make things worse?
No profit in that arena. Tesla has become the gold standard of american innovation. Ewok Musk wants to make beat the record of 12 parsecs on the Kessler run. Instead of throwing money into Space, why not develop technology for Cancer research? Always my question
controlling the population from space has more profit. curing cancer is not a priority because people are a resource that is just an inventory that is always turning over. Its welfare is irrelevant as it will renew itself.
There's actually a lot of really important reasons for space research, including research about cancer done in space! But that's why it's important to keep that research publicly funded instead of turning it into the for profit ventures that Elon Musk and others are trying to use it for.
I know, no money in positive engagement - rage and hate sell. It's so damn depressing. Toxic masculinity run amok (though plenty of women buy into this too).
Not knocking Space Research, I'm an organic astronomer(amateur at best) & find great value in Space research. My point was more Rhetorical & disparaging Ewok Musk

leaving social media freed my mind and soul, but I've felt so out of the loop. finding wfmu has made me feel part of something beautiful and connected as I figure out how to navigate this weird tech bro dystopia / society (?). this conversation feels like coming full circle to me.
I miss old style comment boards!!

Me too. I've been thinking about that a lot lately. I've never been a nostalgic person so it's been weird for me to long for the 90s. I know I am for the reasons you just mentioned plus it was the last time I remember not having a constant feeling of dread.

The slowness is not a bad thing. Also, more doom-scrolly front-ends can be written for these systems for those who are not from the command line BBS era of social networking.
