I don't love them, but I approve of them strongly, as I've never had a job that was better than not being employed but having enough to be comfortable. Robots will be needed for anarcho-communism—or if enough humans can't break their addiction to hiërarchy, democratic communism—to work decently.
As for emotional stuff, I'm both {high-functioning autistic} and picky enough that I very rarely find a human interesting and straight-forward enough to make their company superior to being alone. I never mistake a robot for a sentient being, but I don't hold that against them.

One of the points she makes which I think is fascinating is that in the old days, everyone said what separated humans from machines was intelligence. Now that machines are on the verge of supplanting human intelligence, the focus has shifted to the intangible "soul" as the differentiator (“these AI bots may be as smart as Einstein, but dammit, they don’t have a soul!”). in this respect, we are back to early Christian theology, in a lot of ways.

One thing that was alarming, was a person looking at a painting in a museum. Against the wall was a device called AutoJack, a column with an approximation of a human head - with it's mouth open, the ears obviously handles.

"I, Robot" was a book of short stories where the 3 laws were introduced. One story was based on time or space travel that would transport a person but would technically 'kill' them in transit. I know there are plenty of problems to overcome to implement such a safety protocol (e.g. the trolley problem) but we need to be dealing with such issues of public safety. someone has to have a check on Dr. Frankenstein.

I was not being facetious. I was pointing out that when an entity is viewed as less than human, as human minorities sometimes are, society views it as *OK* to mistreat them. Think about it.
okay then, the only moral issue with destroying a robot is the waste of earth resources.
hitting a robot with a hammer is not necessarily mistreating it, as it would be with a human.

haha...reminds me of a video i watched years ago about planting a tree. someone commented that the guy was abusing his poor shovel.so i said something about my shovel having had enough of me and running away from home
dale: there's an inventory robot thing at our sams club who roams the aisles while you shop. it kinda looks like the roscoe lee brown robot from logan's run. i imagine it can shoot lasers and kill you if it chooses.
