ultradamno: A track I heard on Tom Dash's show that might fit on here sometime: Landline by King Tuff, in which it is encouraged to use that form of telecommunications to make contact kingtuff.bandcamp.com... Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
ultradamno: I watched the Nova episode on Artemis II, turns out the dark side of the moon is really quite dark...also they could have exploded many times.   6:06pm
dano59: a positive event because it had nothing to do with any of our trouble down here
(and the expense if it was nothing compared to defense spending) Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
StringOFperils: Not seeing the night sky sucks Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
Mark Hurst: Hi ultra, Deano, WtSG, DiL, Bas, chresti, Peter, dano, StringOFperils - welcome!   6:09pm
Hugo (NL): Hey, samantha is back? How nice.
Hi Mark! Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm
Mark Hurst:

↳ ultradamno @6:03

Thanks, will take a look Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:10pm
ultradamno: Seems like a JG Ballard concept: post apocalyptic people with new constellations from space junk   6:11pm
dano59: May Elon crash into them on his way to Mars   6:11pm
?: I spot an alien hand Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm
StringOFperils: It will be like peering out, through a net. And you're in it.   6:12pm
Marie de Chicago: I just can’t take this. The UN or some other agency needs to regulate this. Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:12pm
Ken From Hyde Park: Hello, Mark. Will we also be dumping on The Georgia Satellites tonight?   6:12pm
?: Yes. Great topic!! Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm
Mark Hurst:

↳ Marie de Chicago @6:12

Yes. Definitely needs an international response - astronomers worldwide are speaking out - but so far not much has happened. Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm
Mark Hurst:

↳ @6:12

Thanks   6:13pm
Emily: Having seen it, I understand why people were calling to report UFOs, it is very bizarre looking   6:13pm
dano59: I’ve seen a similar nile satellite spinning across the night sky over the Adirondacks, and then come back around again - not sure if it was the ISS or what — this was 1988, before all the clutter.   6:14pm
dano59: “a single satellite” my autocorrect is wack Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
StringOFperils: STARLINK'S initial agenda, i.e phase one, tops out at approx. 42,000. Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
Mark Hurst: See link to Jonathan McDowell's page elsewhere on the playlist for the count as of April 6: over 10,000 Starlinks active in low earth orbit. Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
Ironside: It was 4 years back when my gf and I saw one of those satellite lights. For a short time it was magical, we were seeing a UFO. something beyond our knowledge. Then we looked it up and it was Elon Fucking Musk. The level of deflated disappointment was brutal.   6:16pm
Bob Tankenstein: What’s four lives amongst friends? Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Mark Hurst:

↳ Ironside @6:16

ugh Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
StringOFperils: Elon's glib response, when posed with the immanent crash of some of his space junk a while back, was something like, heh heh, yeah it does come with a certain amount of entertainment.   6:19pm
Marie de Chicago: Did anyone hear about the company or companies who have applied to the FCC to use some special shields or satellities in the sky to create a 24-hour light stream and beam it down, potentially, over large swaths of land….?   6:20pm
Bob Tankenstein: Sister and I play a game to annoy whoever we’re with where we very competitively try to spot the most airplanes. Increased satellites over the years have complicated the game   6:20pm
Marie de Chicago:

↳ StringOFperils @6:17

how absolutely irresponsible   6:21pm
Marie de Chicago:

↳ Bob Tankenstein @6:20

heeheehee Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
StringOFperils:

↳ Marie de Chicago @6:19

I've read such things. Solar mirroring concepts, and also the reverse, engineered shadowing of the Earth. Climate control *(*more engineering is always the answer), and no doubt a weaponry component   6:22pm
Marie de Chicago: wouldn’t it be fantastic if one fell on Elon?   6:23pm
Marie de Chicago:

↳ StringOFperils @6:21

It makes me sick to think of commercial enterprises being able to deploy these   Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Teknishun: Simple really, more satellites, more ability to take on subscriptions. Each satellite can only support so many subscribers. Just like the cellular phone system. It's no different. More density requires more radios. Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:27pm
Webhamster Henry: Space Junk! I think compaines are starting up to handle it! Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
StringOFperils: It isn't hysteria to worry about this issue. I am very skeptical that that ultimate purpose of STARLINK is super-fast broadband. The dedication of the engineering, and the concentrated expense that outstrips everything on Earth speaks to me of something more sublime. Universal control of all Earth systems, nanny robots (they're coming), medical operating facilities, weapons systems, communications, public utilities,.....it's way too much power vested in one thing. A thing whose true purpose and potential remain unseen. Not really the issue being discussed but worth your concern Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Ken From Hyde Park: On the other hand, there's the idea of building a giant space rope at the equator and extending it out to the area of geosynchronous orbit.   6:31pm
Marie de Chicago:

↳ StringOFperils @6:29

interesting. Somehow Musk did something with them in a way that disfavored Ukraine (and advantaged Russia) at one point   6:31pm
dano59: the science of all this is fascinating - from
Reagan’s Star Wars to today Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm

Deano de los Muertos: *one neo-nazi Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
StringOFperils: STARLINK, in addition to all the other stacked orbitng projects up there, according to Earth's leading astronomical scientists, will make ALL Earth-based astronomy impossible, due to light interference. It'll be history.   6:37pm
Xangoir: Hilarious listening to this parked behind a cybertruck with a starlink Roam antenna on its rear end . They’re all in   Swag For Life Member 6:37pm

Fredericks: Long ago, I wrote a poem about people trapped on a planet being overtaken by extreme weather. They had the technology to leave the planet, but they had to gamble that they'd be able to break though the sea of debris covering the skies to escape.   6:40pm

Marie de Chicago: There was legistlation passed by Biden to develop more broadband access and make it more affordable and it started with additional funding every year and went until 2024 when Concgress (republican led) stopped funding it. I just looked it up “Affordable Connectiviity Program" Avatar 🤖 Swag For Life Member 6:53pm
