herb.nyc: Ooh, this show is gonna learn us how we can all be “songwriters”!

Aside, 1/2- the recent TYPEWRITER show brought up this memory, related. 2 teens in park, one asks “what time is it?”. since im 10ft away, I say “5 to 6”. And her friend sez “5:56”. Girl looks confused. So I said “Oh sorry. It’s not 5 to 6. Like she said, 5:56”. Confused look lingers. So I say “it’s 4 to 6”. Still confused. She finally sez “So what time is it? I’m really bad at this”. Boy is she ever. She’d probably take a typewriter and try to connect it to a computer.

These tools don't really generate a form, and then elaborate it like most art does. But it'll definitely get there.

I feel this is really the crux of it in a larger sense. I personally feel there is “magic” created when actual humans pull notes and chords out of thin air and create something. It might mean something to me, but if the world as a whole doesn’t care if breathing humans are actually participating, and AI-music and art is satisfying to them, then it doesn’t make a difference what is “right”… unfortunately.
