Kicking a robot dog is fine, especially for testing purposes, as long as you remain mindful of the long-term risks of your own self becoming numbed to the habit of kicking anything dog-shaped. You don't want to ultimately gradually transition to kicking actual dogs. As absurd as that may sound now, you don't know what may change in the future.
