Asobo Studio has provided a development update on Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, suggesting the game is only a few months away from launch.

The third game in the Plague Tale series was announced last year at Summer Game Fest, and now, in a new blog post, the studio has confirmed that the game's release is "almost here."

"It’s been a year since we revealed Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and four since A Plague Tale: Requiem’s release. In the quiet of Asobo Studio’s office, our team wondered how the A Plague Tale universe would live on," the studio said. "Asobo Studio’s team on the deck. Now, the release is almost here. Soon, you’ll face countless dangers alongside Sophia and her sidekicks."

Asobo continues to discuss Sophia and the team's vision for her story, following brief hints of her past in A Plague Tale: Requiem.

While there's no official release date yet, the studio suggested that A Plague Tale Legacy could launch this year, and confirmed that the team is in the stages of refining several aspects of the game.

"The coming months are critical: our compass is fixed on testing, balancing, and refining the game mechanics to deliver an experience as challenging as it is unforgettable," Asobo said.

"Final tweaks, last recording sessions, the closing notes of the score, before we offer you a story forged in the depths and mysteries of the Mediterranean Sea…"

The blog post also featured concept art of Sophia, along with new information about her character, style, and the stages of writing her story.

Resonance will explore her childhood and young adulthood, but the main story takes place when Sophia is 22, around 15 years before the events of the first two games.

A Plague Tale: Innocence launched in 2019 to critical success, and its sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, arrived in 2022.
