Possibly my most useful summer purchase of the past few years has been a pair of Teva walking sandals. For the past couple of summers, they've barely left my feet. They were a recommendation from a friend in the first place, and I've gone on to rave about them so much that now almost my entire family has a pair. (I'm not joking — my mum has some Universal sandals, my boyfriend is kitted out with a pair of Hurricane XLT3s, my sister is striding around in Universal Slims... even my niece and nephew have their own mini Tevas).
Teva sandals manage to look cool but without compromising on functionality. The grip is great, the colorways are stylish, and they can handle a full day's walking without leaving you with sore ankles or blisters. As a result, they're ideal for hot-weather holidays when you're going to be on your feet a lot.
Good Teva discounts are rare, but the brand has bucked the trend in a big way for Memorial Day, with up to 50% off all its main sandal lines (plus its hiking boots, shoes, and flip-flops, if you're interested in those). If you're in the mood for a Teva bargain, there are also a handful of discounts on Amazon, although there they tend to be limited to a few sizes and what looks like discontinued colorways.
Some Teva sandals are more geared towards walking than others. It should be fairly obvious which pairs are designed for what — look for wide straps, a molded footbed to keep your arch supported, and a grippy sole, if you have foot problems or are heading off on anything other than a flat sidewalk.
