Kindle Scribe Colorsoft now out — should you buy it?

Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft

It took a while for Amazon to release the next generation of Kindle Scribe epaper writing tablets in Australia, but all the new models are now available for pre-order... and they're all more expensive than either of the older Scribes. Even the new Kindle Scribe without frontlight costs a lot more than I expected!

So, are any of them worth it? Well, not unless you really need a 10-inch epaper writing tablet. And even power users like me don't need a colour display either. Even if we did, there are alternatives to consider that offer different pros and cons that might suit a user better at a similar or lower price.

As much as I really want the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft as an upgrade from my 2024 model, I wouldn't buy it at full price.

Take a look at what the Kindle Scribes offer

Two Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 trackers on an orange background

While the Apple AirTags might be more popular on the interwebs, Samsung users can't exactly make do with those Bluetooth trackers. Enter the Samsung SmartTags. The second generation is still going strong in Australia, and they're actually cheaper to buy than AirTags.

For example, the black and white single-unit Samsung SmartTag 2 is now under AU$30, which in itself is a good price. However, opt for the four-pack and the price of each unit drops even further – less than AU$19 apiece! And that, ladies and gents, is the best price I've seen to date on an individual Samsung SmartTag.

So if you want decent Bluetooth trackers and you're not an Apple user, grab this 4-pack and you can use them via the Samsung SmartThings app.

If you haven't finished shopping Amazon's Mid-Year Sale, folks, you're fast running out of time! This sale will end tonight, as I've already mentioned, so if you have any pending purchases on your wish list or there's something stewing in your cart, you better hurry and place the order. You don't want to miss, do you?

If you do, and you don't need any of them for your tax returns this year, then Prime Day should hopefully just be weeks away. And, honestly, that will likely be the better Amazon sale to shop if you can wait.

Haul in the ultra-cheap deals

a render image of Amazon Haul on an iPhone

Did you know that there's something called Amazon Haul now available in Australia?

Launched in August last year initially only on the Amazon app, Haul is now available on desktop/browser too. It's Amazon's answer to Temu and Shein as its home to thousands of affordable products that cost under AU$25.

It's easy to find, clearly labelled on the top nav bar on Amazon's website and available on the home screen of the mobile app when scroll the top tiles. You can then filter via categories like 'bestseller' or 'electronics'.

The latter, as you would expect, is quite sparse when it comes to actual tech, but you'll find a lot of tech-adjacent items like cheap smartwatch straps, mobile screen protectors and office supplies.

And right now, there's up to 40% off these already affordable items, making now a great time to impulse-buy.

Freeze! This ice-cream maker costs under AU$100

Cuisinart Freeze Wand ice-cream maker on a countertop surrounded by different frozen treats

Forget the Ninja Creami!

OK, I know I'll get some backlash about that but hear me out. The Creami costs a lot more and it takes up more counter space.

This magic wand is compact and can make you the smoothest ice cream you could want without you needing to spend too much money. The Cuisinart Freeze Wand is down to just a hundred dollary-doos on Amazon right now and I'm sorely tempted.

It comes with smaller containers than the Creami, though, which is fine at its price point, and you need to pre-freeze your dessert mixtures so it can then churn it for you into a healthy gelato or smoothie. Admittedly this handheld churner isn't as, well, hands-free as the Creami, but when you're tight on cash and space... 'nuff said!

Cuisinart Freeze Wand: AU$149 now AU$97.99 on Amazon

The weekend is the perfect time to shop, and not just for your groceries. You can have a lazy day on the couch and browse thousands of deals on Amazon either on your phone or on a laptop browser. And trust me when I say you should take your time — there are a lot of good deals and, as I said before, they're better than the offers we saw during Amazon's Big Smile Sale in March.

But you do need to hurry, though, as the sale ends tomorrow (Sunday, June 7) at midnight!

Breathe easy — Philips purifier for AU$199

Philips 1000i Series air purifier on a grey background with big savings text

If you're worried about your family's respiratory health, investing in an air purifier will help. There are several models that are big and heavy that will filter air in larger spaces, but if you want something for individual rooms or something you can carry from one room to another, consider this Philips 1000i series model.

It's currently reduced to just AU$199, which is by no means the best price we've seen (which was AU$139 during Black Friday last year), but it's still a significant discount.

Despite its small size, it promises to circulate clean air in a 78sqm space quietly, which is what most homes would need. It's also Wi-Fi connected so you can control it via an app. There are physical buttons too. Currently only the white model is in stock at this low price.

Dyson blows us away

Dyson Supersonic Nural hair dryer lying on its side and viewed from the rear. A hand is seen in black and white with "Don't Miss" text in a copper/orange colour in the top left

Cheaper than its Black Friday and Boxing Day price, I suppose I can say that the Dyson Supersonic Nural is a must-have, even though its discounted price is still quite prohibitive for a hair dryer.

It's not just any hair dryer though. I think I'd say it justifies its high price tag.

Here's why:

  • This hair dryer knows when you put it down, and it will go into low-power mode after a mere second. As soon as you pick it up again, it will power back on.
  • A plethora of sensors ensure the right settings are applied depending on which attachment you use – no manual adjustments needed.
  • The sensors also adjust how hot or cold the airflow is based on how far the Nural is from your head to maintain what feels like a constant temperature on your scalp, thus protecting it.

Is it any wonder it costs AU$749 at full price? However, a generous discount on the Jasper Plum (my personal favourite colour) variant makes it a tempting purchase right now.

C'mon, fire up that TV!

When it comes to streaming devices, none are as good value as Amazon's Fire TV Sticks. You can get some really affordable options, but I think the Fire TV Stick 4K is arguably the best option of them all – not too expensive but full featured.

While any streaming device will give you access to practically all platforms, plus some other apps too, the Fire TV Stick 4K stands out by offering a speedy navigation system, great performance, support for 4K resolution and Dolby Vision. It's also controllable via the Alexa voice assistant.

It's also Wi-Fi 6 enabled, plus you'll get access to Xbox Game Pass via the device to play your favourite games. That's a lot of features for not a lot of money.

Get a Grip on this JBL speaker

Purple JBL Grip held in a hand

JBL is no stranger to producing excellent Bluetooth speakers — just take the Flip and Charge series are prime examples — but it's latest creation, the Grip, is one of the cutest in my opinion.

Admittedly, we do think the Flip 7 provides just a touch more value, but there's no denying the Grip is a truly fun little speaker (it's roughly the size of a Coke can), offering excellent weather protection and a big, bold sound we've come to expect from JBL. Plus, it can now be yours for well under AU$100, representing great bang for your buck.

Do you need to spend hundreds on a Lego set?

Lego Image Lead (Amazon/Lego/Edited by Gemini)

Lego has always been a relatively pricey purchase as far as toys go, but the company has been making more and more sets close to and over AU$1,000, like the 7,541-piece Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon 75192 and the 9,023-piece Lego Star Wars Death Star 75419.

This has been a deliberate move into the luxury toy category by Lego, targeting the so-called Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL) with its own dedicated division. These sets range from licenced IP-based sets like the Star Wars ones above to recreations of the Titanic and the Eiffel Tower (both have more than 9,000 pieces and cost AU$999.99 RRP).

Apart from the extra cost incurred by licencing fees for some sets, Lego also justifies the premium price with its bricks being manufactured with a tolerance of 0.005mm to ensure that every single brick it made from as early as 1960 will still snap in perfectly onto a newly made brick today. The bricks are also made with high-quality ABS plastic, and the expensive steel moulds to make the bricks have to be replaced frequently – both contributing to the premium pricing.

Lego's Technic line also has some high-end sets that include motors and even Bluetooth connectivity to allow controlling the built set through a smartphone app. The now-retired AU$1,049.99 Lego Liebherr Crawler Crane features multiple motors and Bluetooth hubs – which were more expensive than the plastic bricks themselves.

Should you buy these sets? If you have cash to spend, sure — but you'll also need enough room to display them once they're assembled, because these can get huge. The Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon I mentioned above is 83cm long and 60cm wide, while the Eiffel Tower set is almost as tall as an adolescent child at 149cm!

On the other hand, Lego's new Smart Play sets are even more interactive, offering a sound-and-light show thanks to a 'smart brick' — and these sets aren't all that expensive.

Long story short, if you love Lego and have the cash, indulge yourself. I most definitely do!

Experience film photography... digitally

Fujifilm X half camera in the hand at golden hour

You don't need to buy a film camera or rolls to enjoy 'analogue' photography – you can do so digitally now.

Yes, I know that reads like an oxymoron but that's exactly what the Fujifilm X Half let's you do – it emulates half-frame film photography by creating 3:4 vertical images on a 1-inch sensor. But to keep the experience as authentic as possible, there's a dedicated film camera mode that tracks your shots and you can't go back or review your images on the display.

It's not a powerhouse camera but it sure is a nifty compact that I'm keen on personally (I waxed lyrical about it on sister site Digital Camera World late last year). Even better is the fact that it's dropped in price dramatically, which makes it all the more enticing. And there are three colour chassis to choose from.

Fujifilm X Half: AU$1,349 now AU$799 on Amazon

It's day 5 of Amazon's Mid-Year Sale, so we're on the home stretch now. You have until the end of the weekend to check out any discounted item in your cart before the offers stop being as enticing.

I will admit that it's been hard to whittle down the deals to just the best of the best — there are so many good ones! But I'm still at it, keeping the deal count manageable so you don't have to scroll to much while also making sure I highlight as much as possible. It's a tricky tightrope walk, but we'll get to the other side I'm sure.

So stick with me, shoppers, as I continue to bring you some great deals.

Don't forget to court the coupon code

If you're a regular shopper on Amazon, you probably already know that there are some deals that have coupons associated with them that save you some extra cash. It's hard to find these, though, but there's one way you can filter all deals on Amazon that have an associated coupon.

Well, we've done the filtering for you and you just need to head to this Amazon deals page with coupons for all the current listings.

You'll find all sorts of discounts here, from vacuum cleaners to the little microSD card. Like all of Amazon's deals, you can filter the coupon landing page as well to whittle down to categories to make finding items easier. If you can't find an offer you're after in the standard Amazon deals landing page, you can always try the coupons.

A tiny food processor with a massive discount

Kenwood MultiPro Go food processor in blue on a table. beside a tray of food with a TechRadar deal logo for big savings

I love this little food processor. It's a tiny package with plenty of power (alliteration intended). It can do all the basics of grating, slicing and chopping, while also being able to do some kneading too.

It's designed for small kitchens, so it's footprint is tiny, and it's easy to stow away. Even if it's on a counter, it looks rather adorable. You can read my full Kenwood MultiPro Go review for a complete rundown, but suffice to know that I absolutely will not be parting with it even if I did have a bigger kitchen.

And it's discounted too. I've seen it as cheap as AU$65, but I'd even pay full price for it.

How to choose the best robovac for your needs

Roborock Saros 20 robot vacuum in its dock

There's no denying that robot vacuums are handy appliances to have at home. They do the daily floor cleaning for you, saving you time and energy for other (more important) things. Just the sheer volume of models on the market, however, is overwhelming and each one is trying to outdo the other on specs. Manufacturers always have glowing things to say about their product, but it's only in real-world use that the flaws begin to show. And considering you'll be spending hundreds, if not over a grand, on one of these, how do you pick a good one that offers bang for your hard-earned buck?

Amazon's MYS sale has plenty of models being discounted, so I've picked four of my favourites, but I've also added notes on what you should look for when choosing a robot vacuum.

An affordable fitness tracker — just AU$58

Xiaomi Smart Band 10

It's our pick of the best cheap fitness tracker available today, delivering pretty much all the basics most users might need. It's biggest boon is its battery life that can go up to 21 days. It also covers all the fitness essentials, with over 150 tracking modes for various exercises, but there's also step count, heart rate, sleep monitoring and more.

It features a small AMOLED screen that's just about visible outdoors in bright sunshine, but our testing found the clasp on the band isn't necessarily reliable, but that could be a one-off issue on our review unit.

Honestly, though, for just AU$58, you couldn't ask for more.

A tax-deductible iPad that's 28% off

iPad Pro M5

OK, I know this is a hard sell when the iPad costs nearly three grand even after a discount, but if you work a lot on the go and need a heck of a lot of grunt under the hood, it's a fabulous laptop replacement.

Also, how often do you see a 28% discount on an iPad?! Not that often, and sadly it's only on the 2TB storage option with cellular connectivity, which is why it's so darn expensive, but then you also get a whopping 1TB of storage.

The M5 chip is the most powerful processor from Apple to date, and the screen is fabulous too. And if you are purchasing this for work, it's tax deductible — so be sure you know where to find your invoice — meaning you'll get a little bit back from ATO that you can count as additional savings.

If you really need a portable device for work, honestly, this might just be worth the splurge.

Lights, camera, action! Relive your favourite movies with Lego

A man playing with the Lego Ideas Jaws set

Amazon carries a wide range of Lego sets, and a big chunk of them are currently discounted in the Mid-Year Sale. Ranging from big-ticket, 10,000+ piece adult sets that can cost more than AU$1,000, to affordable miniatures as cheap as AU$12, there's a deal for all ages and budgets.

Some of the standout deals we've found were from the brand's licensed collection, with sets from major blockbuster movie franchises and TV shows like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel and even our homegrown global sensation Bluey. But what's more interesting is that there are some Lego sets from media that most people wouldn't automatically expect to have one — including the 1975 blockbuster Jaws, as pictured above.

Wake up and smell the coffee – just AU$88

Nespresso Vertuo Pop in Coconut White, on a kitchen counter. A poured espresso shot in a glass cup is under the machine's spout, and another full coffee with milk is to the right.

The Nespresso Vertuo Pop is the famed coffee maker's smallest machine, yet it doesn't scrimp on features. Being part of the Vertuo lineup, it uses a wider range of pods that can brew a range of coffee sizes, from single espresso all the way up to a full mug.

This machine has been one of our faves here at TechRadar ever since it launched in 2023, with a couple of my colleagues using it themselves at home and none of any complaints. It works just as you'd expect and couldn't be simpler. All you need to do is pop a pod in and press a button, the machine takes care of the rest – it's that easy.

The AU$229 RRP is already good value in my opinion, but there's a pretty good discount that sees the compact pod machine drop to just AU$88 a... pop.

How fast can deals make it to my door? An Amazon shipping guide

Amazon

If you’re an Amazon shopper in Australia, you’ve probably noticed that shipping speeds can vary depending on where you live.

The quickest way to have purchases delivered is to be a Prime member.

In some parts of Sydney and Melbourne, Prime members can get same-day delivery on certain products, but I should stress that this will depend on your post code within the metro areas of each major city. This means that if you place your order before lunchtime, you could have it by the evening. It’s a great option for last-minute gifts or urgent purchases.

Next-day delivery is the most common for all metro areas, and it's available on a much larger catalogue of eligible items. Order today, and your package could be at your door tomorrow. Again, you need to be a Prime member and this applies on products marked as eligible.

If you’re not a Prime member, standard shipping options are still available, but delivery times may be longer, and you might need to pay extra.

For those in regional and rural areas, Amazon still delivers, but shipping times will depend on how far you are from a major hub. Most Prime-eligible items will arrive within two to five days, though some locations may have to wait a little longer. Non-Prime orders may take longer, and shipping costs can vary depending on the seller and product.

No matter where you live, Amazon shipping speeds are better than ever, but if you want to check what’s available in your area, you can enter your postcode at checkout to see estimated delivery times.

Want more info? Head to the Amazon Help hub and click Delivery Speeds & Charges.

If you’re a frequent Amazon shopper, signing up for Prime could be worth it just for the faster shipping alone. If you’ve never tried it, you can start with a 30-day free trial. That means you can sign up now, take advantage of the sale, and cancel anytime if you decide it’s not for you.

Tap to the Beats for just AU$99

The Beats Solo Buds

If you're an Apple user keen on a set of really tiny earbuds, consider the Beats Solo Buds.

Available in four colours for under AU$100 right now, these buds didn't quite do well in our audio tests, as you can tell from our Beats Solo Buds review, but their battery life is excellent. If you aren't too fussed about bass, then you might like these.

And to get a set for under AU$100 isn't bad at all.

Mix things up in the kitchen

KitchenAid KSM195 stand mixer in 2025 colour of the year, Butter Yellow.

KitchenAid's stand mixers are as iconic as they are capable. If you have even the slightest inclination of cooking or baking up a storm in the kitchen, the KSM150 stand mixer is the appliance to have.

There are multiple varieties and model number of this cult-like cooking companion, with the KSM150 on sale here coming with a large, 4.7L bowl and a smattering of useful attachments to help you cook and bake up a storm in the kitchen.

While I've seen the price of the KSM150 drop to AU$499 on Amazon — which is half price — the current offer is AU$599 on three colour variants and still worth considering.

Max beats with Bose

A woman holding the Bose SoundLink Max speaker

I'm a massive Bose fan — I've been using the brand's headphones for yonks! And while I've not had the need to get myself one of Bose's Bluetooth speakers, I have it on good authority that they too pack a punch.

Particularly the Bose Soundlink Max, which our reviewer said produced "big, punchy and quite deft sound". It's been so well liked, that we gave it a 4.5-star score and it earned a TechRadar Recommends badge in our Bose Soundlink Max review. It also does come with a pretty hefty price tag for a portable Bluetooth speaker.

While it's been as cheap as AU$401, the current 29% discount on the Black model ain't bad at all, it's what we'd expect to see outside of Prime Day and Black Friday.

Unlimited reading for less

Amazon Kindle Unlimited free black friday deal

If you're a voracious reader who loves to find hidden gems and discover new authors, you might want to consider trying Kindle Unlimited.

It's Amazon's ebook subscription service with millions of titles, but it is inundated with indie publications and self-published books. If you're after the more popular authors, you may be disappointed. Still, there's a heck of a lot to read via Kindle Unlimited and, right now, Amazon is allowing new and returning Prime customers to sign up for a two-month subscription for just AU$1.99.

Once the two months are over, your monthly charge will revert to the usual AU$13.99p/m cost, but you can cancel any time if you aren't too happy with the service. For just AU$1.99, it's worth giving it a try.

You can use Kindle Unlimited via the Kindle app or access it on any Kindle ereader.

My favourite kind of iPhone case

Apple Silicone iPhone case in ultramarine blue in front of a Nomad modern leather folio case and a UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar armor case, all with iPhone 16 Pro in desert titanium showing through camera bump

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I know one other person who saw my Elago Liquid Silicone case on my old iPhone 13 Pro and switched over.

Yeah, I do like me a silicone case (liquid silicone — not all silicone cases are made equal) and that might seem silly, but hear me out. They're easy to slip on and off — something I struggle with on the iPhone 17 Pro I currently use with Apple's own TechWoven case — and they're remarkably durable.

I find liquid silicone cases can just be wiped down to keep it looking brand new for longer, it's not susceptible to brittleness (at least none of the ones I've used have cracked even after years of use) and you can find one on Amazon for cheap.

I usually go with Elago iPhone cases, but there are plenty to choose from.

DoorDash

Current or new Prime members get free DoorDash deliveries for the next two years (as well as other DashPass benefits) because it's now an additional perk of being an Amazon subscriber.

A typical 2-year DashPass subscription would cost you AU$239, so this is massive savings right here, and it's not even a deal!

This perk is available to all Prime members, which can be redeemed via the offer page on Amazon, and you have until November 14, 2026 to do so. Plenty of time, but don't forget about it!

Deals under AU$25

There's plenty of stuff that doesn't cost a lot. Amazon has it's own section of Deals Under AU$25 that you can browse through, but don't expect a lot of tech. You can, however, stock up on things like toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwashing tablets and liquid, some beauty products, pet food and pantry essentials.

There's so much listed on that page that it's a good thing you can filter down to specific categories via the options in the left sidebar. Take a gander, you might actually find a few gems.

Great headphones for the great outdoors

SHOKZ OpenRun Pro 2

It doesn't matter if you're out on a run, a walk or cycling, if you're outdoors, especially in a city, it's best to be able to hear what's happening around you. And that's where bone-conduction headphones come in, with Shokz being the industry leader in making some of the best there are.

TechRadar Australia has a cyclist on the team and he swears by the Shokz OpenRun, but he also concedes that the Pro version is better, especially when it's discounted — which it is in Amazon's Mid-Year Sale.

Down 25%, the OpenRun Pro 2 adds air conduction to the mix for better audio quality and it's our pick for one of the best open earbuds for runners.

Is the Amazon Fire TV Cube worth buying?

Amazon Fire TV Cube

Amazon has quite a few streaming devices and, when discounted, the Fire TV Sticks, are very affordable indeed. The Fire TV Cube, however, costs more, even when discounted but, strangely, it's not received any price cut during this latest sale.

So while I'd probably say it's not worth paying full price, but when it's on sale, it's definitely worth considering.

One of the fastest-ever streaming media player, the Amazon Fire TV Cube combines all the benefits of a streaming device with Alexa support while also being a smart speaker to help you control your connected devices. Not only do you get access to every streaming app you can think of, you also get Dolby Vision, HDR and Dolby Atmos support, and it’s everything you could want.

Predictably, it inundates you with plenty of Amazon content, but that’s no bad thing if you have an Amazon Prime membership. Its home screen provides rows of suggested content you can watch or rent, and these days Amazon Prime offers some truly great shows and movies.

I've been lusting after the Ninja Crispi ever since it launched even though I already have a two-drawer air fryer that also has a steam functionality. It's that glass basket...

Anyway, I missed out on its AU$196 price during Boxing Day 2025, which was better than its Black Friday price, but sadly the current discount isn't as tempting. I think it's still worth calling out, and it's applicable on all three colourways.

Blink Video Doorbell and footage

There are now SO MANY video doorbells, with Amazon's Ring range probably one of the most popular. And of course Amazon wants a larger slice of the pie, so enter the Blink Video Doorbell.

Cheaper than the Ring range even at full price, it carries on the Blink ethos of offering affordable security systems. Its indoor and outdoor cameras are already at an all-time low price, but this new Blink Video Doorbell release only earlier this year and is cheaper than what it was during Big Smile Sale in March.

As with the Ring systems, sadly you will need an additional subscription to unlock its full functionality (you get a 30-day free trial as a new user), but it might be worthwhile for some home owners. Importantly, though, this comes with the Sync Module Core that you'll need to complete the indoor connection.

If you're unsure about it, you can find out more in our Blink Video Doorbell review.

This Bose means business at a record-low price!

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones Gen 2 on a red background

The first-generation Bose QC Ultra cans were absolutely stunning — I still use mine — with excellent sound and a comfy fit. The Gen 2 takes that even further and looks even better with the metallic trim. Sure, there are better-looking headphones out there (the Sonos Arc and Sony's latest 1000X ColleXion comes to mind), but they're stellar when it comes to sound and noise cancellation.

While it's still an expensive set of headphones despite a saving of over a hundred bucks, it's considerably cheaper than the likes of the aforementioned Sony and the Apple AirPods Max (both generations).

Our Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) saw them come away with a full five stars, with our reviewer claiming, "The king of active noise cancellation is back with a product that’s just a mild improvement on the model it replaces – which is, frankly, all it really needed to be."

The previous model was knocked off its perch by the Sony WH-1000XM6 as the ANC headphones to beat and, boy, was Bose clearly not happy with that. This 2025 model reasserts itself as the true master of noise cancellation, backed up by a lively, engaging sound and the Immersive Audio mode that give any song the spatial audio treatment. And now at all-time low price of just AU$508!

Delicious coffee at the touch of a button? Magnifico!

De'Longhi Magnifica S automatic coffee machine on a kitchen bench with "Big Savings" text in white.

Coffee machines come in a variety of options, and aside from pod coffee machines, a fully automatic coffee maker represents the easiest route to a quality morning cuppa. Just select the coffee-based drink you want and press start, and you're away — the whole process couldn't be simpler.

The De'Longhi Magnifica S focuses on simplicity while still producing a good cup of coffee. It can make two cups at the touch of a button, while it also has a milk frother and 13 adjustable grind settings to get things just how you like them. It's versatile enough to be used with either coffee beans or ground coffee.

Even cleaning is simple thanks to its integrated clean function. All parts in contact with milk are automatically washed with hot water and steam regularly. If maintenance is one of your concerns from switching away from heading to your favourite coffee shop, this should quell those fears.

We haven't reviewed this exact model, but we do have experience with other De'Longhi Magnifica models and have found them all to be excellent options for the kitchen.

Amazon's 2026 Mid-Year Sale will run all the way to Sunday, June 7, which means you have time to shop. But Amazon is notorious for changing prices or ending a deal within that period. So if there's something specific you want, you might as well add it to cart and check it out as soon as you spot it.

The good news is that prices are better than what we saw during the Big Smile Sale in March, and if you have a work-related purchase you need to make, you'd better be quick. Admittedly Prime Day 2026 (which will hopefully be in July) will have even better discounts, but any work items you buy then will only be tax deductible in the FY 26/27 returns, which is a whole year later.

So don't hesitate if you see a deal that is within your budget right now.

Are you a Prime member yet?

If there's one thing you need to do to take full advantage of any major Amazon sale is to become a Prime member. While I think many Aussies already are, some of you might still be wondering what it means to be a Prime member, what you're actually paying for and if shelling out a monthly or annual sum is actually worth it.

In short, if you're a regular Amazon shopper, I think it's worth signing up for it. Your AU$9.99 monthly fee (or AU$79 annually) gets you free and expedited shipping on thousands of eligible products without needing to fulfil a minimum spend.

That fee also gets you free access to Prime Video (which does have some excellent shows and movies), along with Prime Reading and Prime Gaming. Just the first one more than makes up for the investment you're making, in my opinion. As a Prime member, you also now get two years of free DoorDash deliveries, although this offer ends November 14, 2026.

While there are generally no Prime-exclusive deals right now, there are occasional coupons or lightning deals that won't explicitly say it's for Prime members, but will only appear if you're signed in with a paid account. You can find out more about the subscription service in my dedicated guide to what is Amazon Prime in Australia.

It's also worth noting that if you've never tried this service before, signing up now will get you a 30-day free trial that more than covers the sale. If you don't want to pay at all, you can cancel as soon as the sale finishes. Keep in mind that if you use the same email later to sign up again, you will not get that free trial later even if you didn't use all 30 days.

If you're interested in getting your delivery from Amazon expedited this sale season, you can hit one of the buttons below to sign up.

Budget 'buds prove a big hit

We always aim to give as many products a TechRadar seal of approval as we can, but we can't review everything. In such instances, we can confidently rely on feedback from real customers, especially when there are over 100K reviews of a product, as is the case with these budget-friendly Anker Soundcore P20i earbuds.

While we've not reviewed this exact model, we have had experience with Soundcore headphones and have found them to perform incredibly well for the price – just see our Anker Soundcore Space One Pro as an example.

The general consensus of the P20i earbuds is that they perform well above what their price tag would suggest. Customers deem them to be comfortable to wear for long periods, incredibly easy to use (it's also recommended you download the companion smartphone app for tweaking the sound profile) and they sound great.

There appears to be agreement that they're not going to sound as good as pairs that cost two, three or four times as much, but that should be expected at this price. Multiple reviews of these earbuds say that for the price, you really can't go wrong — perhaps it's no wonder they're one of the bestselling products on right now.

The best Kindle deal right now

Amazon Kindle Colorsoft in black on blue background with don't miss sign

I review ereaders for a living and while I wouldn't recommend a colour ereader to most readers, those who read more comics or graphic novels would actually put it to good use. If you're one of them, the Kindle Colorsoft is cheaper than what it was during Black Friday and Boxing Day last year, and cheaper than March's Big Smile Sale — it was AU$309 for all of them.

It briefly dropped to AU$294 in December, then was AU$299 for a short while in May, and it's back to the latter price. So while not an all-time low, it's still an excellent price for the Kindle Colorsoft's 16GB model.

The best thing about the Colorsoft is that it's the only colour ereader I've seen that has a separate Vivid mode that enhances the colours displayed and, unlike other E Ink Kaleido 3 devices like the Kobo Libra Colour and Boox Go Color 7 Gen II, you get what it promises – slightly more saturated hues. Again, keep in mind this is an E Ink display, so don't expect it to match an iPad or your phone, but it sure displays nice colours, which is great for comic fans.

It's sale season! What a time to be shopping! Not only are the EOFY 2026 sales going on at nearly every other Aussie retailer, but Amazon has kicked off its annual Mid-Year Sale to coincide and make your tax-time purchases even easier.

While you have a lot of choice right now when it comes to choosing the retailer you want to shop from, it's hard to argue that Amazon typically has the best prices on a lot of products. Sure, its tech catalogue is limited in comparison but, for what it does have, it's arguably the best place to shop.

Importantly, if you happen to be a Prime member, you can get your purchase either on the same day, the next day or within a few days, depending on where you live. You don't need to have a subscription to shop this sale, though, so you can shop till you drop. And if you happen to purchase a tech item that you'll use for work, your total savings will increase because it'll be tax deductible too. So make sure you know how to find your Amazon invoices.
