Securing sensitive corporate content is only half the battle. Realizing true operational resilience requires hardening the underlying infrastructure where those assets live. In an era of sophisticated server-level exploits and zero-day threats, a strong security posture must expand far beyond the data itself and into the core workloads, hypervisors, and virtual environments powering the enterprise. 

Understandably, organizations increasingly seek assurance that the security they deploy has been evaluated against rigorous, independently recognized standards. Symantec is no stranger to top standards. Our touted data loss prevention (DLP) solution earned Common Criteria Certification earlier this year—and now our data center security (DCS) solution is joining the ranks. 

We are proud to announce that Symantec DCS 6.10 has officially achieved Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408) Certification at Evaluation Assurance Level 2+ (EAL2+).

Built to stand up to scrutiny

Common Criteria isn’t just another certification. It’s one of the most widely recognized benchmarks for evaluating the security of IT products—and for good reason. Today, the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) includes 36 member nations, all of which recognize Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) certifications. 

That recognition is backed by a rigorous evaluation framework with consistent testing standards spanning accredited laboratories worldwide. For organizations, it provides a trusted benchmark for evaluating security products while reducing the need for costly, time-consuming duplicate assessments.

For DCS 6.10, achieving Common Criteria meant undergoing rigorous, independent testing by accredited third-party experts. The assessment validates both the product’s security capabilities and the secure development practices behind it—covering everything from how we write and secure code to how we manage vulnerabilities.

More than a certification

Common Criteria Certification validates the development practices and security controls behind Symantec Data Center Security, but it also reflects something broader—our continued commitment to helping organizations protect the very systems that power them.
