Foxconn Brazil is now on Steve Jobs Avenue
Shane McGlaun · 2012-04-14 · via Comments for Geeky Gadgets

The city of Jundiaí in southeastern Brazil is the location of one of Foxconn’s manufacturing facilities for Apple products that is outside of China. This facility plays a crucial role in the production of various Apple devices, contributing significantly to the global supply chain of the tech giant. The day after Apple CEO Steve Jobs passed away, a bill was filed to change the name of the street where the Foxconn facility is located to Steve Jobs Avenue.

The name change was granted on March 27, and now the Portuguese name for the street is Avenida Steve Jobs. The street was previously named after a former mayor of the city and is an avenue connecting the city to São Paulo, Brazil. This renaming serves as a tribute to Steve Jobs, acknowledging his immense contributions to technology and innovation.

The Significance of Avenida Steve Jobs

Renaming the street to Avenida Steve Jobs is more than just a symbolic gesture. It reflects the deep impact that Steve Jobs and Apple have had on the world, including in Brazil. The Foxconn facility in Jundiaí is a testament to the global reach of Apple’s manufacturing and its reliance on international partnerships. This facility not only provides jobs to thousands of Brazilians but also helps in the local economy’s growth by fostering technological advancements and attracting related industries.

Moreover, the renaming highlights the importance of recognizing influential figures in technology. Steve Jobs revolutionized multiple industries, from personal computing to mobile phones, and his legacy continues to inspire innovation worldwide. By naming a street after him, Jundiaí pays homage to his visionary leadership and the transformative impact of his work.

Foxconn’s Role in Apple’s Supply Chain

Foxconn, a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturer, is one of Apple’s most critical partners. The Jundiaí facility is part of Foxconn’s extensive network of factories that produce a wide range of Apple products, including iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. This facility’s strategic location in Brazil allows Apple to cater to the South American market more efficiently, reducing shipping times and costs.

The partnership between Apple and Foxconn is mutually beneficial. For Apple, Foxconn’s manufacturing expertise and capacity are invaluable in meeting the high demand for its products. For Foxconn, Apple is a significant client, contributing substantially to its revenue. This relationship underscores the interconnected nature of the global technology supply chain, where companies rely on each other to deliver cutting-edge products to consumers.

It’s interesting to note that the address of the Foxconn facility will now be Steve Jobs Avenue. Apple is certainly one of the key contracts that Foxconn has, and it is very important to the company’s overall financial viability. The renaming of the street can also be seen as a nod to the strong partnership between Apple and Foxconn, celebrating their collaborative efforts in bringing innovative products to market.

In addition to its economic impact, the Foxconn facility in Jundiaí also plays a role in corporate social responsibility. Foxconn has been working to improve labor conditions and ensure fair treatment of its workers, addressing concerns that have been raised in the past. By maintaining high standards in its operations, Foxconn contributes to the well-being of its employees and sets a positive example for other manufacturers.

The renaming of the street to Avenida Steve Jobs is a fitting tribute to a man who changed the world through his visionary ideas and relentless pursuit of excellence. It also highlights the significant role that the Foxconn facility in Jundiaí plays in Apple’s global operations and the broader technology industry. This gesture serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of Steve Jobs and the ongoing impact of his work on the world.
