Over the last week, Blizzard has started releasing videos detailing the characters that will be available in their new Diablo III game. This highly anticipated game is set to launch on May 15th, 2012, after experiencing a few delays along the way.

Blizzard has already introduced us to the Demon Hunter and Barbarian classes, and now it’s the turn of the Monk. The Diablo III Monk character is a blend of the Assassin, Paladin, and Barbarian from the Diablo 2 game, and can be viewed in action in the video after the jump.

Unique Abilities and Skills of the Monk

The Monk will be a unique class to play within Diablo III and uses mantras and spiritual power to cast massive damage on enemies, allowing the Monk to deal out the most damage of all Diablo III classes. This character is designed to be a fast-paced, high-damage dealer, making it an exciting choice for players who enjoy aggressive gameplay.

The skills of a Monk are divided into three specific areas: Spirit Generators, Spirit Spenders, and Mantras. Spirit Generators are basic attacks that build up the Monk’s Spirit, a resource used to power more potent abilities. Spirit Spenders are powerful attacks that consume Spirit to deal significant damage or provide other benefits. Mantras are a unique type of skill that provides various buffs to the Monk and their allies, enhancing their combat effectiveness.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Monk’s abilities is that they have no cooldowns. This means that as long as you have enough Spirit, you can continuously unleash powerful attacks without waiting for a cooldown period. This mechanic encourages players to maintain a balance between generating and spending Spirit, creating a dynamic and engaging combat experience.

Gameplay and Strategy

Playing as a Monk in Diablo III requires a strategic approach to maximize the character’s potential.
