I’ve Found The Best Gift for the 3D-Printing Fanatic in Y...
James Bricknell · 2025-11-23 · via CNET

The age-old problem of 3D printing at home is simple: What do you actually print? Even if you have the best 3D printer imaginable, without something cool to print, it's just a paperweight. Finding those projects that make a 3D printer worthwhile is the continued bane of every 3D printer user. A new company is looking to make this struggle a little easier with something called Print Kits.

As the name suggests, Print Kits are boxes full of all you need to make cool 3D-printed projects. They have all the electronics, nuts and bolts that you need, with the added bonus of some candy and a little gadget -- mine came with a stroopwafel and a monoscope -- as an extra treat. The kit also comes with a link to the files you will need to 3D print, along with solid instructions on how to assemble all the parts once the printing is complete.

Print Kits

I've had a chance to play with several of the Print Kits, and so far, I like what I see. Print Kits are a subscription. For $38 per month, or $50 if you'd like to include a selection of fun filaments to try, Print Kits will send you a complete package with everything you need, except the tools. And I do mean everything. If the kit requires batteries, the company includes them, which is rare for this type of gift box.

I know that Black Friday sales are in full swing and that everyone is looking for the perfect gift for their family. There are plenty of accessories for the person in your life who loves to 3D print, but a subscription to Print Kits will give them something to do every month. It's also worth buying the three-, six-, or 12-month options as well. The more you buy, the cheaper the boxes get.
