May for PlayStation Plus subscribers is for two kinds of gamers: soccer fans and Soulslike fans. Just in time for the World Cup, EA Sports FC 26 is one of the three games available to PS Plus subscribers at no extra cost. If soccer doesn't interest you at all, Sony also added two Soulslike games that offer a challenge but are rewarding for those up for the task.
PS Plus, which is Sony's version of Xbox Game Pass, offers a large, constantly expanding library of games. Subscribers can choose from the Essential, Extra and Premium tiers, each with unique perks and benefits. Starting at $10 a month, the plans give subscribers access to games and rewards, and each month, all subscribers can play a handful of new games at no additional charge.
If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you can grab these games starting on May 4.
EA Sports FC 26
The World Cup kicks off in June, and EA Sports FC 26 is just the kind of game to get in the mood for soccer. FC 26 refines the game of soccer with its smart AI movements, tighter ball control and more physical action. Players will be able to lay out a tactical plan to make a bid for glory or simply adapt on the fly to counter whatever style the opposing team uses. There are different ways to have fun with FC 26, whether it's creating a legacy in Career Mode or going online to compete with others. It'll be up to the players to determine if they will dominate the pitch in glory or hang their heads in defeat.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a unique take on the Soulslike formula that focuses on weapons. Each class of weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses, but each class is also tied to certain stats. Heavy weapons will make you stronger, lighter weapons are better for magic and so on. It's this mechanic that makes this game, which is based on Chinese history but filled with monsters, such an intrigung take on the Soulslike. Fair warning, be prepared for a lot of dying: Wuchang doesn't pull any punches.
Nine Sols
Nine Sols, like Wuchang, is a Soulslike game, although it has a few other elements mixed in with its platform sequences and Metroidvania-like backtracking. Players take the role of Yi, a hero in a ruined world that is both mystical and technological. Combat consists of quick strikes and well-timed parries, making fights feel more like duels than outright brawls. The hand-drawn-style graphics are eye candy for a world full of mysteries that need to be uncovered.
