Having already secured a place in the Round of 32, World Cup 2026 co-hosts Mexico will look to lock up first place in Group A on Wednesday when it faces a Czechia team that is in real danger of falling at the first hurdle.

Currently sitting at the top of the group following wins over South Africa and South Korea, El Tri head coach Javier Aguirre may be tempted to rotate his starting lineup on Wednesday, with his team's spot in the knockout rounds already confirmed.
Czechia's place in the tournament is far less certain. An opening-match defeat against South Korea, coupled with a disappointing draw against South Africa last week, means that a draw here is unlikely to be enough for Miroslav Koubek's team to advance to the knockout stage.
Czechia takes on Mexico in this Group A match on Wednesday at the Mexico City Stadium (Estadio Azteca), with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CST. That makes it a 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT start on the East and West Coasts in the US and Canada, a 2 a.m. BST start in the UK and an 11 a.m. AEST kickoff in Australia on Thursday.
Mexico is set to be boosted by the return of key defender César Montes, who is available for selection after serving a one-match suspension against South Korea following his red card in Mexico's victory over South Africa.
