Chuwi surprises the market with Lunar Lake Intel Core i5 laptop — sub-1kg device boasts 'all-day battery…
waynewilliam · 2026-04-30 · via Latest from TechRadar in Pro

  • Chuwi CoreBook Air 226V pairs Lunar Lake processor with integrated Arc graphics
  • Thin aluminum laptop includes 2.8K display and LPDDR5X memory
  • Pricing above $800 places CoreBook Air 226V in highly competitive territory

Chuwi has taken the wraps off its new CoreBook Air 226V Copilot+ PC laptop built around Intel’s Core Ultra 5 226V processor based on the Lunar Lake architecture. It brings local AI capability into a lightweight system aimed at content creators, business professionals, students, and programmers.

The Core Ultra 5 226V is an 8-core, 8-thread chip with boost speeds reaching up to 4.5GHz, paired with integrated Arc 130V graphics and dedicated AI hardware.

It delivers up to 28 percent higher multi-core performance than Intel’s Core i5-1235U and Core i5-12450H processors, along with efficiency improvements of up to 25 percent.

Thin and lightweight chassis

AI performance is rated at up to 97 TOPS, including 40 TOPS from the NPU and about 8 TOPS from the CPU.

The CoreBook Air 226V includes a full-size keyboard with two-level backlighting, paired with a large touchpad, all housed in a durable sandblasted, anodized aluminum alloy chassis measuring about 10.9mm thick and weighing under 1kg. Dual fans rated at under 38dB help keep fan noise low during operation.

The 14-inch 16:10 display offers a 2.8K (2880 x 1800) resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports 100 percent sRGB color coverage, along with wide viewing angles suited to everyday work, media playback, and general productivity tasks.

The laptop comes with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 8533MT/s, paired with a 512GB PCIe SSD that can be easily upgraded if you need extra storage.

There's a 2MP Full HD RGB webcam positioned above the display for video calls and conferencing, and it comes with a privacy shutter.

It supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and has HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet, two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Battery life is listed at between 12 and 15 hours, supported by 65W fast charging that can restore roughly 50 percent battery capacity in about one hour.

The CoreBook Air 226V is priced from $800, which is where Chuwi could run into trouble.

The company is known for its lower-priced products, and this model pushes into territory it doesn’t usually occupy. Chuwi’s CoreBook Air 14 with similar specs but a Ryzen 5 6600H processor is much more affordable at $589.

Buyers also have plenty of ultra-light laptops to choose from better-known manufacturers with established product lines, broader retail availability, and longer track records in the thin-and-light category.
