The new roles were announced at an event in which Enterprise Ireland also discussed the 2025 export results and the wider landscape.

Irish electrical engineering company BMC Manufacturing has announced the creation of 500 new jobs to be filled between now and 2028, as part of a major expansion plan. The roles, which are supported by Enterprise Ireland, will be across a range of functions, including engineering, technology and operations. 

The organisation, which was established in Meath, in 1991, develops and delivers innovations in the low voltage switchgear and critical power solutions spaces. 

Colm Sheridan, BMC Manufacturing’s CEO and CFO, told SiliconRepublic.com that the roles will be divided primarily between the company’s Dublin and Meath-based locations in Damastown, Ballycoolin, Kells and Ashbourne, noting the importance of being able to pull from a strong, regional talent pool. 

He said, “The jobs are across all areas of the business, particularly hands-on manufacturing, which would involve electricians, mechanical and electrical engineers, apprentices, QA, QC, IT and all the admin departments, finance, HR procurement. This is to satisfy our anticipated growth over the next two years.”

He strongly encouraged school-leavers to consider applying for an apprenticeship at the organisation, stating that there is great potential for career progression.

He said, “People who have done their apprenticeship here now hold managerial roles within the company across the board. All of the production managers served their time as apprentices with us. There are endless possibilities as a newly qualified electrical apprentice.”

Commenting on the new roles, at the Enterprise Ireland and BMC manufacturing event earlier today (15 June), the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke, TD, said, “The Government, working with our colleagues from Enterprise Ireland and from across the enterprise ecosystem, is committed to supporting Irish companies to scale and become global leaders in their field and BMC Manufacturing is a clear reflection of that.  

“From starting out as a small company in Meath, to now having their technology used across the world, BMC Manufacturing is a true Irish success story. I’d like to congratulate Brendan, Colm and all their team on this significant milestone and wish them the best with this new chapter in their journey.”

A strong year

The jobs announcement was made alongside the publishing of Enterprise Ireland’s Annual Business Results for 2025, which found that the companies it supports achieved record exports last year of more than €38bn. 

This is an increase of 8pc from the year prior, with exports from Enterprise Ireland’s client companies having increased significantly over the last decade, up almost 90pc since 2015 when they were €20.6bn.

Also reaching a record high, Enterprise Ireland reported that expenditure by its client base in the Irish economy in 2025, reached €43.73bn last year, standing at almost €120m per day for payroll, goods and services.

Exports to Europe and the UK both exceeded €11bn for the first time, with these two markets now accounting for 29pc of all exports each and exports to North America remained steady, continuing to be the third largest market. Exports there grew to €7.34bn in 2025, a 1pc increase on the year prior.

The Nordics also saw a significant increase in exports to the region, increasing by 39pc to €2.78bn. Enterprise Ireland reported this was driven largely by a significant increase in high-tech construction exports to the region. As a result the Nordics now account for a total of 7pc of Enterprise Ireland’s client exports, more than double the 3pc total counted in 2015.

Particularly strong performances were recorded in high-tech construction as well as climate tech and renewable energy, as both increased their exports by 24pc in 2025. Additionally, digital technology company exports rose by 12pc.

Welcoming the findings, Burke said, “These results published today by Enterprise Ireland on behalf of its client base demonstrate the strength, ambition and resilience of Irish enterprise. Achieving record levels of exports is a clear reflection of the innovation and global competitiveness of our companies, supported by Enterprise Ireland. 

“These results underline the important role Irish businesses play in driving economic growth, creating jobs and strengthening Ireland’s position in international markets. The Irish government is committed to supporting these companies to continue to grow and we will continue to work with our partners in Enterprise Ireland and from across the ecosystem to ensure we deliver a supportive economic environment where they can thrive.”
