Welcome to our September newsletter. This month, we've focused on performance improvements and bug fixes to enhance your NetBird experience. We also have a few updates to share. Here's what's been happening:
We've introduced a new feature that enables batch deletion and mass assignment of groups and users. This update allows you to manage multiple groups or users simultaneously, making large-scale management easier.
A new feature contributed by the community, courtesy of moosetheory ( PR #2337 ), now allows setup keys to be provided directly from a file. This update enhances flexibility for users automating NetBird installations and managing secrets. By supporting file-based setup key management, it simplifies integration into automated workflows while improving security practices.
A contribution by Foosec ( PR #2188 ) introduces support for mTLS to the new SSO identity provider. This enhancement improves security by enabling the identity provider to be shielded behind an mTLS-terminating proxy, reducing the risk of potential zero-day exploits and adding an additional layer of authentication for enhanced protection.
Our NetBird YouTube channel features a new video on IDP sync, showing how to integrate Microsoft Entra ID with NetBird for automated user synchronization.

Webnestify has created a video walking through the basics of setting up a NetBird server, exploring how it simplifies secure networking using WireGuard for fast and encrypted connections.

We are moving away from the TURN relay (coturn) to our own relay implementation based on WebSocket. This new system will ensure that all relayed connections utilize a single secure port (443), instead of allocating one port per connection as before. The update is expected to enhance performance and ensure faster, more reliable connections, even in stricter network environments.
🚀 That's a wrap for this month's newsletter. Thank you for being part of our community. We appreciate your support and feedback. Until next time!
Regards,
Team NetBird
