Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is so popular that it's getting a surprise third year of content.

Developer Saber Interactive has revealed an updated year two roadmap for the game, confirming that updates are coming over an extended timeframe with a newly revealed third year of support throughout 2026.

"Your duty is not yet done, brother," the developers wrote. "Lately, our updates have been very well received by the community, which really motivates us to keep up the momentum for the third year."

A major update, Patch 13, is set to drop later this year and introduces a wealth of content like a new PvE mission. The Wargear feature will be getting a highly requested rework that will finally allow players to use some class-specific customization options on other classes.

On top of this, a big overhaul is planned for Siege mode, including new gameplay modifiers to freshen up the experience. The Hive Tyrant and Vortex Beast enemies have also been reworked into bosses.

There's loads more too, including a new practice arena on the battle barge for players to try out their gear before diving into a fight, the ability to create a perk loadout with up to three of your choice, and the all-new bolt carbine sidearm.

The most dedicated players will also be able to earn six new armour variants and three new weapon variants by completing Heroic Deeds.

Given all the free content being added, not to mention the fact Space Marine 2 was recently added to Xbox Game Pass and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (and the added excitement surrounding the new edition of its source material, the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game, releasing next month), it shouldn't be that much of a shock that the game has now hit a milestone of more than 12 million players.

Want to give it a go? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
