I met Fred at Bonneville in 1963. He had set a 2-way record the previous year at 99.06 mph with his absolutely stock Corvair Monza. "Last summer the Eastern PA Chapter of the Audi Club did it's annual covered bridges drive and ice cream run. A very fun and spirited ~150 mile drive. I show up in my 1989 80 Quattro, my wife drove our 2001 TT 225 Roadster, and a guy I had never seen before at any Audi event shows up in one of these. Jaws dropped. He was super nice, down to earth, and had no problem with any of us getting in and checking it out."
