This 1940 Cadillac Series 62 coupe was initially delivered to Gibson Motor Co. of Spokane, Washington, and it underwent a reported eight-year restoration that resulted in being given a National First Prize Award and a score of 99.75 points after it was judged by the Classic Car Club of America in 2014. The body was repainted in Oxblood Maroon Iridescent, and the 346ci V8 and three-speed manual transmission were overhauled. Elements include a hood ornament, a curved rear window, hood side louvers, fender-mounted indicators, and steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and Coker whitewall tires. The cabin is appointed with tan herringbone cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable front seat, a push-button AM radio, and a heater/defroster. Acquired by the current owner in 2021, this Series 62 coupe is now offered by the seller on their behalf with service records and an Arkansas title in the owner’s name.

Originally delivered in black (1), the body was stripped and repainted in the shade of Oxblood Maroon Iridescent (11) in 2012, per the seller, who notes that the chrome elements were re-plated at that time. Exterior details include a hood ornament, a curved rear window, hood side louvers, sealed-beam headlamps, fender-mounted indicators, dual-side mirrors, and a split windshield. Photos of a scratch on the right-rear fender, a thin spot in the paint on the right-front fender, and paint bubbles on the left-rear fender are provided in the gallery.

The vehicle was judged during the Minnesota Grand Classic meet of the Classic Car Club of America in 2014, and it was given a final score of 99.75.

Body-color 15″ steel wheels wear chrome Cadillac-crest hubcaps and are mounted with Coker Classic whitewall tires that were installed in 2021. A matching spare is stowed in the trunk. Braking is provided by hydraulically actuated drums at each corner.

The cabin houses front and rear bench seats upholstered in tan herringbone cloth (52), and color-keyed carpets line the floors. The AM radio was rebuilt in 2008, and the car is equipped with an optional heater/defroster. The power front seat was repaired and adjusted in August 2021.

The white banjo-style steering wheel fronts a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for engine temperature, amperage, fuel level, and oil pressure. The analog clock does not work. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 346ci Monobloc L-head V8 was factory equipped with a single-barrel Stromberg carburetor and was rated at 135 horsepower when new. The engine was rebuilt by Headquarters Machine & Restoration in 2012, and the associated service record in the gallery indicates the cylinders were re-sleeved, the head was resurfaced, and the block was honed.

The column-shifted three-speed manual transmission was overhauled in 2015 by Overhill Garage of Jordan, Minnesota.

A copy of the dealer invoice lists initial delivery to Gibson Motor Co. of Spokane, Washington, along with factory equipment and a total amount of $1,494.
The Arkansas title has “O/D Exempt” in the remarks section.
