The Airstream World Traveler lineup is expanding as the company has announced the new 17RB. As the name suggests, it’s a compact 17-foot (5.18 meters) travel trailer that slots below the $69,400 22RB.

Pitched as a lightweight option for first-time buyers, the model has a classic riveted aluminum body, dual-pane acrylic windows, and a manual awning. They’re joined by retractable steps, an LP storage box, and a low-profile roof, as the air conditioner is located underneath.

Speaking of the roof, the camper can be outfitted with 200 watts of optional solar panels. Airstream also offers an optional 2.5 kWh lithium battery package for extended stays off-grid.

Moving inside, there’s a Scandinavian-inspired interior with white aluminum walls and Shoreline or Sagebrush upholstery. The cabin is relatively basic, but the front end features a convertible dinette. At the opposite end is a 53-inch (1346 mm) wide bed that can accommodate two people.

The two areas are separated by a small kitchen, which features a two-burner stove top, a sink, and a 2.1 cubic foot (59 liters) refrigerator/freezer. To expand the cooking area, the countertop features a foldable extension as well as a removable/storable addition on the bedside.

If cooking after a long day of adventure is too much to ask, Airstream offers an optional microwave. Customers can also get an optional dinette drawer refrigerator.

Putting the kitchen aside, the 17RB features a 24-inch Smart TV and a Truma Combi Eco Plus System for heating and hot water. Buyers will also find numerous storage compartments and what appears to be a JBL audio system.

The World Traveler 17RB is already in production for the United States, while global production begins this fall. The company didn’t mention pricing, but hinted it will offer “one of the most accessible entry points into the Airstream lifestyle yet.”
