Alan Ruck‘s new slasher movie has received a digital release date. The blood-soaked film had a limited theatrical run in May and is now making its digital debut.
Corporate Retreat, featuring Alan Ruck, is set to make its digital debut on Friday, July 10. The film will be available to rent or purchase on major digital platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, DirecTV, Google Play, and more.
The film is directed by Aaron Fisher, known for Inside the Rain, and co-written by Fisher and Kerri Lee Romeo. It was released in select U.S. theaters on May 22 for a limited run. The savage horror-dark comedy received a low Rotten Tomatoes score, earning 26% on Tomatometer and 51% on Popcornmeter.
The movie received divisive reviews from critics and viewers. For instance, Noah Berkely of Chicago Reader stated, “If you go in expecting some mean-spirited fun at the expense of our ranting oligarchs and their boot-licking minions, plus some tired genius-serial-killer tropes, you won’t be disappointed.”
Simon Abrams wrote on RogerEbert.com, “It might be the worst movie of the year, not because it’s unpleasant, cliched, and gory, too, but because its filmmakers seem to have as little regard for their audience as they do for their craft.”
This slasher movie was well-liked by viewers into the gore genre, with some giving it 5 stars on Letterboxd, stating, “A-lot of blood,” while some delved deeper into the themes, stating, “I really enjoyed seeing how he correlated each of the 7 gates with his own sick twist on them”
In the satirical horror flick, Ruck plays Arthur Scott, who invites young corporates to the luxury retreat. However, this luxury also entails a deadly survival game, resulting in the gore that drives the film’s plot.
Other cast members include Odeya Rush, Rosanna Arquette, Sasha Lane, Ashton Sanders, Benjamin Norris, Tyler Alvarez, Zion Moreno, Ellen Toland, and Kirby Johnson.
