Fathom acquires Gauges

news  Jack Ellis · Apr 20, 2026

We are so excited to announce that Fathom has acquired Gauges, the beautiful, real-time, simple analytics product that paved the way for companies like ours.

A brief history

Gauges was founded in 2011 by Ordered List, who looked at the website analytics landscape and thought, “Why can’t analytics be simple?” Their small but mighty team shipped an incredible product, which took off immediately. Nine months later, Ordered List (and Gauges) was acquired by GitHub.

In 2017, GitHub sold Gauges to ReportGarden Inc, who had big plans for Gauges and kept it running for the next nine years.

Then, in March 2026, ReportGarden made the hard decision to announce the sunset of Gauges. It was no longer feasible for them to maintain it whilst also actively building their main product. We immediately had Gauges customers emailing us about importing their data into Fathom, and I knew we had to do something, so I emailed their CEO.

And then, on 15th April, we acquired Gauges.

What happens now

Fathom offers everything Gauges did and more, and we will be migrating all of their customers over to our platform whilst preserving their historical data. We’ll also soon be adding Air Traffic Live, popular with Gauges customers, to Fathom as a first-class feature.

Thank you

To the Ordered List team, thank you for building Gauges and for the beautifully simple codebase and data structure.

To ReportGarden Inc, thank you for the smooth process of getting to a deal that worked for both of us. ReportGarden is now doubling down on their reporting hub and insights hub. You can learn more about them here.
