Cyberattacks have moved from shocking headlines to the everyday life of chief information security officers (CISOs). Attacks are surging due to the convergence of accessible ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) tools and high-value, data-rich targets, accelerated by AI. For most CISOs, the question isn’t “if” and maybe not even “when” they will be attacked. Instead, the question is “When is the next attack?”
This shifting cyber threat landscape is especially relevant for organizations that have become more data-driven. Not only is the target more attractive to threat actors, but the criticality of the data also makes organizations more willing to pay a premium for this valuable asset.
Storage environments have traditionally been treated as passive infrastructure in the context of cybersecurity and resilience. In other words, they store and serve data, but play no role in the protection, detection, or recovery process from a cyberattack or data loss. In the estimate of Moor Insights & Strategy (MI&S), this mindset is outdated — storage should be viewed as the foundation for cyber resilience.
This research paper will examine the data resilience market and why CISOs, security operations, business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR), and tech teams must reassess their cyber resilience practices, with storage serving as a strategic pillar. Further, it will examine Everpure (formerly Pure Storage) and its Enterprise Data Cloud (EDC) to determine whether it can deliver resilience at scale with unified governance, rapid recovery, and integrated cyber defenses. Finally, this paper will test Everpure’s claim of competitive differentiation across portfolio, governance, and partnerships.
