Show HN: I built a tool that matches Founders to VCs based on their pitch deck
MartinTobias · 2026-06-26 · via HN's home page

Hey HN,

I am a VC and 3x venture-funded Founder. VCs and Founders are both playing a low-probability matching game. Better targeting both ways is the way to solve this problem for both parties.

So I build Investor Match - Founder uploads a pitch deck (or paste a Docsend link), and it returns 20 ranked investor matches with fit scores, contact details and pre-drafted outreach emails. There is also a deck Teardown feature to improve your deck before sending to Investors. We launched in Jan. and over 3,000 founders have run their decks. There are over 10,000 VCs in the database. Founders have reported over $100M in commitments from matches so far.

When I was a founder, I was scraping Crunchbase and Techcrunch for investors and cold-emailing them, generally without enough context on stage, sector fit, or what they actually invest in. Most prior matching systems were dumb key-word matches (you are B2B, Investor X invests in B2B so match). Investor Match does full symentac match after having read all Investor websites, social media, portfolios, actual investments and news articles. It does a much better match for your geography, stage, sector, etc.

The core flow: Founder uploads deck, context is extracted and confirmed by Founder to create a Company Card. That card gets matched against investor profiles including stage, check size, sector, currently deploying status, and other thesis signals. Decks are encrypted and never shared without founder consent. Cold emails are generated with specific personalization to the specific partner and their portfolio at the firm. There is also a PDF of the recommendations created with a reason for the fit. Founders with existing investors who send that list to their exising stakeholders tend to get 100% warm intros to these new investors. You have the context to do both cold and find warm intros. The system does not send emails, it is not a spam gun. You still run the outreach process.

While the core flow is the Founder one, there there are hundreds of VCs who have active accounts and use the tool to receive deal flow, create a firm specific deck bot, and do warm intros for their portcos raising. This is how I use it as a VC. The last three pre-seed companies I invested in all found their Seed leads in the 20 VCs recommended by this tool. I was able to make 10-15 warm intros instead of in the past when I would remember 1-2 people to intro.

The tool consumes millions of tokens per deck and provides the first 3 matches free as well as a high level Deck Teardown. To see full matches and emails, etc, it is $20 for matches and $10 for Teardown. I am just trying to cover server costs (barely today), and this is not a business to monetize founders. At $1 per high-quality VC match, it is a good deal when raising millions.

Still in beta, with some rough edges. Would love feedback from anyone who has fundraised recently or built something similar.
