NBA insider Shams Charania has fired back at Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks organization over comments about his reporting. Antetokounmpo and head coach Doc Rivers both insulted Charania during the season for his reporting about the MVP’s future decisions. Milwaukee’s side did not like Shams reporting that Giannis could be on the move and mocked him when no trade was made.

Charania had the following response today and took a shot at the state of the Bucks on the Pat McAfee Show:

“The reality of everything in Milwaukee is this, if they spent as much time dealing with their own internal dynamics and problems as they do with responding to accurate reports, they wouldn’t be in the mess that they’re in right now. I’m doing the job at the highest of levels I possibly can.

I got one more for you. I watch documentaries from time to time. I saw one on Fyre Festival. The part we’re at now is when everyone wants to go and you’re doing the cover up. It’s totally fine. I’m just here to document and cover it the right way.”

The usually mild-mannered Shams went out of his way to throw shade at Milwaukee and the current situation of that franchise. Charania felt attacked about his reporting and believes the toxic situation between the Bucks and Giannis proves he was right.

How Shams Upset Giannis & The Bucks

Previous mid-season reporting saw Antetokounmpo expressing anger over how Shams was covering him. Giannis implied that Charania lied about various reports throughout the season about a potential trade with teams like the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Doc Rivers continued to add to that and recently said the following to insult Shams:

“[Me & Giannis] have a great relationship. Shams wrote an article that was so inaccurate… he talked about our locker room thing… The first thing I thought was, ‘Where’s Woj? I miss [Adrian Wojnarowski] so much.'”

Rivers once again called Charania a liar and implied that he’s doing a poor job as the lead NBA insider. Adrian Wojnarowski was even named since he was the previous reporter in Shams role before he left for a college basketball job and holds respect around the league.

Was Shams Lying About Giannis Trades?

It is hard to give the benefit of the doubt to the Bucks and Giannis after the past few months. Charania even mentioned how bad things are with Antetokounmpo trying to get the franchise in trouble with the NBA for refusing to clear him to play the final few games.

Other reports like Giannis wanting to get traded to the New York Knicks last summer have been confirmed by various reporters. Antetokounmpo appears to be going back and forth on if he wants a trade, but that doesn’t mean the instances of him wanting out are not true.

Charania has a great track record of breaking stories and has the best sources in the league. No one else was remotely close to reporting the Luka Doncic to Los Angeles Lakers trade last season until Shams did it. The current story sees Charania looking better since the Bucks are likely to trade Giannis this summer.
