Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors

Earlier this week, the NBA legend Charles Barkley got into a back-and-forth debate with Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, which has been the talk of the NBA.

Barkley dished his honest thoughts on the state of the Warriors, which wasn’t a glowing analysis. In return, Green fired shots at Barkley’s final days as a player, which met the same assessment level as Barkley’s criticism of the Warriors.

A few days later, Barkley joined The Dan Patrick Show and addressed the situation once more. Barkley not only admitted that he had a rough go during his days with the Houston Rockets, but he doubled down on his Warriors take.

Charles Barkley Takes A Direct Shot At The Warriors

“The Warriors haven’t been relevant for three or four years,” Barkley said.

“They’ve been in the Play-In. When you’re in the Play-In, you’re not in the playoffs. That’s something Adam Silver, who I love Adam Silver, but the Play-In is something they just made up to have more games to put on a different network. When you’re in the Play-In, the Warriors have been in the Play-In I think for four-straight years. They’ve been irrelevant, and I know he doesn’t want to say it.”

“If Golden State was relevant, he wouldn’t be in the studio with me!” 😅

The Warriors’ last NBA Finals run occurred in 2022. After that season, they finished sixth in the Western Conference and lost in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

The 2023-2024 season was the first time the Warriors had to go through the Play-In. They didn’t make it to the playoffs that year. In 2024-2025, Golden State finished as the seventh seed and won their first-round series over the Rockets in upset fashion.

Golden State dropped out with a 1-4 loss in round two. This season, the Warriors had to enter the Play-In once again. They won the first matchup but lost the battle for the eighth seed. Now, the Warriors enter the offseason with a ton of questions.

“Everybody gets mad at me when I say this–old people don’t get healthy–old people die, okay?” Barkley stated. “They don’t get healthy. The notion that [Draymond Green] and Steph [Curry] are going to get better when they get healthy and being a year older, they’re not. They are just going to get older. It’s over for Golden State. They had a great run. He took a personal shot at me, but I’m not sensitive. It’s been over in Golden State. If Golden State was relevant, he wouldn’t be in the studio with me.”
