WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair went viral on Tuesday for his comments about Luka Doncic.

The Nature Boy wasn’t happy with Doncic out for the Los Angeles Lakers due to injury. He argued that with a huge salary, Doncic should be playing through his Grade 2 hamstring strain.

“Luka @lukadoncic, Please Get In The Game! Take A Shot Of Cortisone And Deal With The Pain! They Are Paying You 50 Million A Year, And You’re Not There! WTF! I Hope @JeanieBuss Trades You Next Year. Nobody Wants A Lame Duck On Their Team!” Flair tweeted.

Flair is a fan of the Lakers, though he’s mostly a supporter of LeBron James. He had been invited by the Cleveland Cavaliers when James was still with the team. He was a special guest announcer in Game 2 of last year’s postseason series between the Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Ric Flair Doubles Down on Luka Doncic Injury Take, Mentions Jayson Tatum

Following his remarks about Luka Doncic, Ric Flair received plenty of backlash from Lakers fans online.

However, the 16-time world champion wasn’t going to back down. He was firm on his take on Doncic’s injury and salary, even mentioning Jayson Tatum, who missed Game 7 of their first-round series between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers with a knee stiffness.

“FYI- Obviously They Are Not Going To Trade Luka. He’s Their Future. He’s Their Franchise. But Do The Math- He Averages 33 Points A Game. If He Has 20, LeBron @KingJames Has 27, And The Rest Of The Team- They Win! I Would Have Said The Same Thing About @jaytatum0 On The @celtics , But I’m Not A Boston Fan. For 46 Million Dollars A Year, I Think You Can Play! Everyone Is Allowed To Have Their Own Opinion. And This Is Mine!” Flair tweeted.

It’s a wild take from Flair, considering there are reports about Doncic’s injury being feared to be worse than initially thought.

The Lakers are down 1-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their second-round playoff series.

Speaking to reporters after Wednesday’s practice, Luka Doncic finally opened up about his injury and recovery. Doncic revealed that his original timeline was eight weeks, so he’s not been cleared for full contact.

“I’m just doing everything I can,” Doncic, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “Every day, I’m doing stuff I’m supposed to do. Obviously, recovery, now I’m working. … Just going day by day, and I feel better every day.”

Doncic also explained the procedure he underwent in Spain.

“I went to Spain to do PRP,” Doncic said. “Everybody knows that Spain, they’re just one of the best countries to do that. And obviously, I talked with the Lakers’ doctors, so everybody agreed for me to go there.”

The Lakers are set to face the Thunder again in Game 2 on Thursday.
