The Golden State Warriors have been urged by a former NBA player to utilize Draymond Green more on offense next season. The suggestion came after Green’s remarks about Steve Kerr holding him back.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Club 520 podcast, Jeff Teague told the Warriors that it’s time to test Green’s scoring following his comments about Kerr, who signed a new two-year contract to stay in Golden State.

“They going to let Draymond go,” Teague said. “Draymond, it’s your time. You already put it out there. … Now it’s your time to average 18, 19 (points). Draymond said Steve Kerr been holding him back. It’s his time. He on the way out, man. It’s time to go out with a bang.”

The one-time All-Star added, “I can’t wait to talk to him, bro. You already put it out there. … I’m saying Draymond just need to go out there and just shoot the ball.”

While Teague can be unserious at times, he seemed interested in seeing what Green can do with a bigger role on offense. They are expected to host the four-time NBA champion for an upcoming episode.

There are plenty of things to discuss considering the headlines over the past few weeks. From his beef with Austin Rivers to his comments about Kerr and Charles Barkley, Green has had a hell of a time since the Warriors’ season ended.

Before Steve Kerr signed a two-year contract to say in charge of the Warriors, Draymond Green made an interesting remark about his longtime coach.

Speaking on The Draymond Green Show in late April, Green explained how Kerr hindered a part of his game, hence hindering his career in a way.

“As much as he’s done for me in basketball, a part of me think he’s hindered me in my career and what I could have become,” Green said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “But what he’s also helped me become. Like you got to take the good with the bad, man. When I think of who I was offensively as a player and who I became, I think a part of that is due to him. I don’t hold that against him.”

Despite the comments, Green also mentioned that he was “forever grateful” to Kerr for putting him in a position to succeed.

After Austin Rivers used his comments about Steve Kerr for their intense beef, Draymond Green doubled down on his take by name-dropping Steph Curry.

“That’s basketball,” Green said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “That’s the sport, that’s what we’re in. There’s going to be a gripe. You go talk to Steph Curry right now, who has never had a bad negative thing to say about Steve, and if you talk to him, and obviously in private, I guarantee you he’s going to have some gripe because that’s every basketball player in the world.”

Green was an offensive player in high school. He averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds as a senior. He wasn’t an offensive player in college until his final season at Michigan State. And clearly, he was more of a defender and playmaker in Golden State.
